Men’s Physique Olympia champion Ryan Terry is preparing to make his first title defense at the upcoming 2024 Mr. Olympia. In a recent YouTube video, Terry discussed his four-month-long diet and training preparations ahead of the blockbuster event.

Last year, Ryan Terry made massive strides in his bodybuilding career. He secured a respectable second-place showing at the 2023 Pittsburgh Pro show. Terry was determined to stand out from the crowd. It was at the New York Pro show that he did just that, bringing a combination of dryness and muscle definition to earn the victory.

However, Ryan Terry wasn’t finished yet. Stepping onto the 2023 Mr. Olympia stage, Terry brought his best package yet, which stunned not only the crowd but the judges alike. He defeated the former champion Erin Banks and also took out former three-time titleholder Brandon Hendrickson en route to becoming the new Men’s Physique Olympia champion

Men’s Physique Olympia Ryan Terry Discusses 2024 Olympia Prep, Diet, and Training

Following his incredible rise through the ranks, Ryan Terry was open about the sacrifices it took to get to that point in his career. After nine failed attempts and over 21 years of training, he is determined to not let gold slip his grasp this year as he makes his first title defense at the 2024 Mr. Olympia.

In a recent interview on YouTube, Ryan Terry discussed his training prep which will be 16 weeks long. Terry reveals that he can’t wait to get started:

“I actually start my prep for the Olympia in two days’ time. I fly back to the UK on Monday and that’s when my prep starts. We’re 16 weeks out from Wednesday so I typically diet for four months, 16 weeks. I can’t wait to get started.”

It’s not all about the prize for Terry, he likes the hunt. He relishes every moment of his prep.

“Last year, I won the New York Pro and I won the Olympia, all different parts of the year, so I was dieting for most of the year, which I enjoy, I love being in prep. I love being immersed in the industry.”

Having spent some time away from the stage, he’s eager to participate in a show.

“This year, taking time out, it has really killed me. I want to be back in prep. I want to be hurting. I want to be in the trenches and I want to get back on stage. I will be competing yes in 16 weeks’ time and I need to get that two times, 100 percent” Terry said

Ryan Terry shares insight on his dieting and training, stating that he likes to go all-out until he has nothing left to give.

“When I’m dieting, for me, I love variation and I like expending as much as I can and knowing that I’ve got nothing left in the tank. I do a lot of volume training even though we still hit the heavy weights, I’m just more regimented and more like drop sets, supersets, giant sets, that sort of thing when I’m dieting.”

During prep, he will add a second training session to each day whereas in the off-season he only trains once.

“I’ll also increase to a second session every day. When I’m off-season it’ll be one session a day, that’s it. When I’m dieting, I’ll be training fasted cardio, abs work, then do my weight training at night.”

Ryan Terry still managed to keep himself busy in his off-season. Terry recently opened a $5 million gym in Nottinghamshire, England, and gave strongman brothers Luke and Tom Stoltman a full tour. Terry boasts of the lavish amenities, which include a coffee bar, a boutique-style hair salon, as well as a cardio station, and much more.

It’s no wonder Ryan Terry loves to train, with a gym like that I don’t think anyone would want to leave! Lucky for Terry, prep for the 2024 Mr. Olympia is getting started. Fans are excited to see how Ryan Terry’s physique will evolve this year and hope to see him defend the title.
