Bodybuilder Matthew Greggo is marching toward his sophomore Mr. Olympia appearance this October. Taking to his YouTube channel, Greggo shares a 3,721-calorie full day of eating as he transitions toward his contest prep in the days to come.

The Classic Physique division in the IFBB Pro League is notoriously competitive. Currently, reigning five-time Classic Physique Olympia Chris Bumstead sits atop the throne as one of the most dominant titleholders of his era. Greggo, meanwhile, continues to rise up the ranks, showcasing significant improvements.

Greggo has been on a roll in 2024. He narrowly took runner-up at the 2024 Pittsburgh Pro show to Eric Lisboa. However, it was his gold-winning performance at the New York Pro that caught the attention of fans around the world. With his sights set on Olympia, Greggo walked fans through his diet before starting contest prep.

Meal 1

  • 125 grams of cream of rice
  • 50 grams of Huge whey isolate (birthday cake flavor)
  • 70 grams of raspberries
  • one banana
  • Huge Defend Formula

Greggo shared that cream of rice has remained his breakfast year-round.

“The first one is going to be pretty simple. Good old-fashioned cream of rice. For breakfast, my meal one is pretty much the same. It’s almost the same year-round except in prep I’ll do chicken instead of protein powder. But when I’m–well I’m not really in the off-season, when I’m transitioning right now from the New York Pro to the Olympia, I’m going to enjoy myself.”

Meal 2

  • 205 grams of chicken
  • 215 grams of white rice
  • 30 grams of Sweet and spicy Sweet Baby Ray’s (No Sugar Added)

His first animal-based protein of the day was chicken, combined with white rice and barbeque sauce.

“We have meal number two. The meal is supposed to be 200 grams of chicken or 205 grams of chicken. I guess it’s a little bit over that,” said Greggo. “I’ll tell you what, the thing I like most about this time is I can enjoy different food choices. So if I want to eat a homemade burrito instead of chicken and rice I can do that.”

This served as Greggo’s pre-workout meal for leg day:

“Meal two pre-workout, I’m going to go to the gym right now,” said Greggo. “Today, I train hams and glutes.”

Meal 3

  • two Greek yogurts (15 grams of protein in each one)
  • banana

For post-workout nutrition, the Classic Physique star refueled with protein-packed Greek yogurt and a banana mixed in.

“Just got done training legs. So leg day is done. I’m just having a little nice light post-workout meal, nothing too crazy here. I’ll tell you one thing I’ve been enjoying, now that I’m done with prep for a little tiny bit, I’ve been enjoying eating fruit. I don’t even know why. I just enjoy eating fruit.”

Meal 4

  • Pasta (125 grams of carbs)
  • 210 grams of beef
  • Sweet and Spicy Sweet Baby Ray’s (No Sugar Added)
  • No-sugar-added ketchup

Greggo enjoyed his most fulfilling meal of the day — a pasta-based dish, complete with ketchup and barbeque sauce.

“We have the next meal. I guess you could consider this meal four. Yeah, it’s meal four. So, I was really feeling some pasta. I’ve been craving pasta and beef for a hot minute now. I’m finally having some pasta and beef.”

“I have a weird concoction. I have the no-sugar-added ketchup and I have the barbeque sauce I used earlier in the video, The sweet and spicy one, it’s actually a pretty good combo. This is more like the bigger post-workout meal.”

Meal 5

  • Two tortillas
  • 140 grams of beef
  • Sweet and Spicy Sweet Baby Ray’s (No Sugar Added)

Instead of doubling down on pasta, Greggo opted for tacos while debating on whether or not he’d eat a Crumble cookie later.

“It was between pasta and tacos. And I feel like tacos are just way better of an option because tacos are more fun. Also, I have a crumble cookie I might eat. I haven’t decided yet about that. We’ll get there in a minute.”

“I usually like to have a pretty ridiculously big meal before bed. But the issue was I was doing the Little Debbies before bed, I was having 12 of them and I had to stop that. I’m not bodying the Little Debbie oatmeal cream pies anymore, we didn’t even buy it. If they are in the house I’m going to eat them all.”

Meal 6

For his final helping of the day, Greggo stuck with carb-rich English muffins and Hawaiian rolls.

  • 3 English muffins
  • 2 Hawaiian rolls

“Did not eat the cookie,” says Greggo.

Total Macros

Below, you can find his total macros for his full day of eating:

  • Calories: 3,721
  • Protein: 265 grams
  • Carbs: 554 grams
  • Fat: 61 grams

Having displayed an unbelievable physique transformation, Greggo is capable of massive improvements when the pressure is on. His combination of muscle volume, vascularity, and conditioning could spell trouble for other top contenders in Classic Physique, like Wesley Vissers, Urs Kalecinski, and Ramon Queiroz.

With months of preparation lying ahead of Greggo, he has plenty of time to make adjustments for the biggest event of the year. He plans to continue locking in his nutrition to ensure a powerful performance on the 2024 Mr. Olympia stage.
