Samson Dauda is the number three bodybuilder in the world following an immensely successful 2023 season. In a recent YouTube video, Dauda, amid a ‘rebound phase,’ shared his full day of eating, which included four meals.
“The difference between rebound and off-season is in rebound your body is trying to get back to a normal setting. After pulling down body fat and pulling down water and everything else your body is trying to get back to a normal state.”
It’s been an eventful year for “The Nigerian Lion” who started off the season proving himself as the 2023 Arnold Classic winner in March. Not only was Dauda successful in Columbus, Ohio, but he surpassed Nick Walker and Andrew Jacked on the scorecards, which he made possible with aesthetic shape and graceful posing.
When he stormed the 2023 Mr. Olympia stage, Dauda once again improved under the bright lights, securing third place behind only Hadi Choopan and the newly minted champion Derek Lunsford. As one of the taller competitors in the Open class, Dauda’s Mr. Olympia-winning potential is high, assuming he can continue to refine his conditioning.

Instead of taking a breather from the competitive season after Olympia, Dauda wanted to give European fans something to talk about. He entered and won the 2023 Romania Muscle Fest Pro and the EVLS Prague Pro, setting himself up with a huge boost of momentum heading into 2024.

Dauda explains how the rebounding process works, stressing that it can get uncomfortable due to the rapid weight gain incurred by athletes.
“What it tends to do is it tends to put on a lot of weight very quickly when you introduce all that food back in which is very extremely painful. It’s uncomfortable and you have times when I’m up 10 pounds in one week. So it can be very tasking to the body but at the same time, it can be very useful if you do it properly,” Dauda shared.
As for muscle growth, Dauda says the rebound period is one of the most ‘anabolic times you are in.’
“In terms of growing muscle through the rebound is one of the most anabolic times you are in. We try to capitalize on that as much as possible to really make the body use that process.”

“There is always something to raid in the fridge during offseason, this is why I love the off season. At least the rebound phase before you get tired of food.”
With Dauda seemingly getting better and better, it’s no surprise the bodybuilding community continues to sing his praise. Just recently, IFBB Pro League judge Terrick El Guindy assessed Dauda’s potential as a future Mr. Olympia winner. Speaking candidly, El Guindy underlined that Dauda was and is the most dangerous man in the federation.
Fans have already begun eying what’s next for their favorite competitors and that includes Samson Dauda. The 2024 Arnold Classic will take place in early March, and considering Dauda claimed gold at last year’s event, there’s a strong possibility we could see him attempt to defend his title in just a few months.
