Sergio Oliva Jr. is the son of bodybuilding royalty. However, he is looking to pave his own way, by competing at the 2020 Arnold Classic.

Sergio has been firmly following in his fathers footsteps. Sergio Oliva Sr. is a three time winner of the Mr. Olympia contest. He was one of the greatest bodybuilders of his time, even besting Arnold Schwarzenegger. This is a legacy that he was looking to pass on to his son.

For the most part, Oliva Jr. has done a great job living up to the big aspirations left by his father. He has had a few successful performances, even winning the New York Pro in 2017. However, he is looking to set himself apart from his father, and make his own path.

As a result, Oliva Jr. is looking to take his career up a notch. The way he plans to do that, as he expressed in an Instagram post, is with a showing at the 2020 Arnold Classic. The event goes down at the beginning of the year, and Sergio is looking to make an impact on this big stage. Some personal events kept him on the sidelines for a bit, so it is exciting to see his return.

“The announcement of the announcement of announcing the beginning of prep. I hate when people have to announce they are starting prep. It’s your job. That’s like a non bodybuilder letting you know everytime they’re going to work.

But what I also hate more is people in my comments asking what show I’m doing over and over. So as of today I got word I have officially been accepted into the 2020 Arnold Classic. I’ve gone to this show every year since when it was back at the veterans memorial. The venue my father and Arnold went against each other in.

I wanted to wait til I was good enough to honor the return of the Oliva /Schwarzenegger names being together again and 2020 is that time.”

This was his message:

Competing at the 2020 Arnold Classic is going to be a massive test for Sergio Oliva Jr. Nevertheless, it appears that he is up for it, as he looks absolutely massive already. It is always hard for athletes to step out of their athletic parent’s shadow. Although it seems that he is on the right path to do so.
