Temur Samkharadze is easily one of the greatest talents in the super heavyweight division of powerlifting and arguably the only one that could challenge Jesus Olivares in the future. However, he is still just 23-years-old, which is why he competed at the 2024 World Juniors and Sub-Juniors Classic & Equipped Powerlifting Championships. As expected, he took the gold medal but also managed to set a 411-kilogram (906-pound) +120KG IPF Open World Record.
Temur Samkharadze opened his deadlift session with a pull of 370 kilograms (815.7 pounds). The sole purpose of this attempt was to secure the gold medal, as all of his rivals were too far behind to catch up.
Temur Samkharadze had no need to wait any longer, which is why he loaded 411 kilograms (906 pounds) for his second attempt. He managed to successfully lock it out by using a conventional stance and a mixed grip. In turn, he chipped the +120KG IPF Deadlift World Record.
However, Temur Samkharadze also tried to further advance the record by an unbelievable 9 kilograms (19.8 pounds) on his final attempt. Incredibly, he managed to get 420 kilograms (925.9 pounds) off the floor and up to his knees, but unfortunately couldn’t get it to lockout.

Temur Samkharadze had a very decent performance, successfully completing eight out of nine attempts, with the only exception being his final deadlift. In turn, he ended up with a 1,043.5-kilogram (2,300.5-pound) Total, which was more than enough to secure first place. In fact, it turned out to be 113.5 kilograms (250.2 pounds) more than what the second-best athlete in the +120-kilogram weight class managed to Total.

Temur Samkharadze was born in 2001, meaning that this is his final year in the Junior age class. However, he has managed to accomplish all that was available. This includes multiple Junior IPF World as well as Junior and Open EPF European Championships. He has also set multiple Junior World Records, which proves that he is ready to take on the Open age class. However, it will still be a massive challenge for Temur, as he will be going against one of the greatest powerlifters in history, Jesus Olivares.
