Temur Samkharadze is emerging as one of the greatest super heavyweight powerlifters in the world, as seen by his most recent performance. The Georgian athlete took part in the 2024 Euro Muscle Show, which occurred on July 13-14 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. There, Temur managed to set a new 410.5-kilogram (905-pound) Open IPF World Record.

The 2024 Euro Muscle Show was sanctioned by the IPF, which is why Temur Samkharadze was able to set a new World Record. However, prior to his actual record breaking lift, Temur performed two lighter deadlifts. The first one came out to 370 kilograms (815.7 pounds), while the second one weighed 395 kilograms (870.8 pounds). Temur made both look easy and went on to prepare for his final attempt.

For his final deadlift attempt, Temur Samkharadze picked 410.5 kilograms (905 pounds). He performed the lift with a conventional stance and used a mixed grip. Temur completed the lift with surprising ease, which left no doubts about the validity of his World Record. Since he competed in the raw division, Temur was only allowed to use a lifting belt.

*Jesus Olivares held the previous +120KG IPF Raw Deadlift World Record of 410-kg (903.9-lb) which he set at the 2023 IPF Sheffield Powerlifting Championships.

Temur Samkharadze’s Full Performance

Temur Samkharadze missed his final attempt on both the squat and bench press. So, he ended up having seven out of nine successful attempts in total. Moreover, he also further improved his own Junior Raw Bench Press IPF World Record.

Temur also managed to win the men’s division at the 2024 Euro Muscle Show with a Total of 1,086.5 kilograms (2,395.3 pounds). This fell just 1-kilogram (2.2 pounds) short of his own IPF Junior World Record Total as well.

This was Temur Samkharadze’s 12th sanctioned powerlifting appearance and his ninth victory. He now officially holds a World Record in the Open age class, which is a tremendous achievement considering that he took it off Jesus Olivares. It is also worth noting that Temur is still a Junior athlete, as he was born in 2001. However, he is the only man who is even remotely close to Jesus Olivares, and is looking to get even closer in the upcoming years.
