The 2024 World’s Strongest Man took place on May 1-5, in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and featured some incredible athletes. However, Tom Stoltman finished in first place after a near-perfect outing, which saw him beat his closest rival by 5.5 points. So, coming straight off the competition floor, Tom managed to put aside a few minutes in order to answer some of our questions.
Tom is now only one of seven athletes in the history of the sport who have managed to win at least three World’s Strongest Man titles. However, he has yet to reach his peak and has plenty of years left in the sport. Still, his 2024 WSM performance was the greatest that he displayed over his career up until this point. So, the era of Tom Stoltman is just beginning.

Tom Stoltman Opens Up About Future Goals In An Exclusive Interview
Greatness is often manifested in the way that a person manages to bounce off from a defeat. So, seeing that Tom Stoltman lost his title to Mitchell Hooper last year, he first revealed just how good it feels to regain possession of his title at the 2024 World’s Strongest Man.

“Winning the title is special for whatever time you win it. But, I think, to come back after you lose the title and win is extra special. Mitchell Hooper has done so many great things in the sport and pushed it to the next level. I knew that I had to go and do stuff outside the gym and do extra things in the gym to get here. So, for it to all pay off and be a flawless performance is very special.”
Tom Stoltman also revealed to us that he has now accomplished one of his biggest short-term goals, which was to win three WSM titles before the age of thirty. This was achieved by only a handful of people in history, and nearly all of them won at least another WSM title afterwards as well. So, if history repeats itself once again, Tom could add some more WSM titles to his resume.
“I wanted to have three before I was 30. I wanted that last year, and it didn’t happen. But, I am 30 in 25 days, and to win three trophies before I am 30 years old is unbelievable.”
Although the future is unpredictable, Tom Stoltman has set some goals that would make history if successful. Most notably, he is 100% confident that he can match or beat the record for most World’s Strongest Man titles won by one man. That record currently belongs to Mariusz Pudzianowski, who won five titles in 2002, 2003, 2005, 2007, and 2008.
“I am not going to count on the future, but I am confident in myself that I can match Mariusz (Pudzianowski) or beat him 100%”
When asked about what helped him make so many improvements this year, Tom Stoltman revealed that a lot of credit goes to his team. That, along with his hard-working mentality and mind-blowing strength, helped Tom display one of the greatest performances in the entire history of Strongman.
“The team I got is with me 100%. I have a sports psychologist now. I only started working with him about six weeks ago, but what he taught me has been unbelievable. It is like a cheat code in my eyes and I have used that this weekend. My mindset had been unbelievable. So I am just going to keep building and improving all the time, and although I am the best in the world, I can still improve.”
Tom Stoltman also revealed to us that he even surprised himself by how well he performed and placed on certain events in the finals. Especially the Yoke into Frame, Conan’s Wheel and the Deadlift for reps. This also turned out to be crucial moments for his victory at the 2024 World’s Strongest Man, as they have been costly for him in previous year’s.
“Me going into the lead after the first day (was a surprise). I’m not the best at Yoke into Frame. The second day even wasn’t favorable, Conan’s I came last last year, the Deadlift I came sixth place. So, those events, to come top three in all of them, I shocked myself.”
To wrap up the interview, Tom Stoltman addressed his rivalry with Mitchell Hooper and other elite Strongman athletes. Tom acknowledges the greatness of other athletes, but points out that he was the most motivated this year.
“Anyone can challenge anyone. Myself and Mitchell have been number one and two, and we proved that again. But, this year I am number one, and I think in every single competition that we do, anyone can beat anyone. This year is who wanted it most, and I wanted it the most.”
