“As you have seen the Vegas video, I was very disappointed in my performance… So, I have had an injury since March of this year. It was a guessing game with the physios trying to get it diagnosed.
Since post World’s Strongest Man, I have struggled to get my head screwed on for competitions… Every time I have been deadlifting, I have had sharp pains in my back.”
Tom Stoltman has been pushing through the pain for a long time, but having to withdraw from the recent 2024 Giants Live USA Strongman Championships proved to him that he needed to change something.
Vegas was the last straw for me… I did five or six tests and failed every single one. He (osteopath) said it is disc related… and my nerves in the right leg, hamstring and glute, are not playing games either. That is why I get pain when I deadlift.”
The injuries have not only affected Tom Stoltman’s physical capabilities but also taken a toll on his mental health. He thought that all of the underwhelming performances were purely his fault with no outside factors. So, realizing that there was in fact something serious in his way has eased Stoltman’s mind.
So all of those thoughts of me thinking it is just me being weak have eased a bit. There have been a lot off my shoulders.”
With everything said, Tom Stoltman has decided to withdraw from the 2024 Giants Live World Tour, which is set to take place on 19th October in Glasgow, Scotland.
“I will not be doing Giants Live Glasgow… I need to protect myself as a human and as an athlete… The specialist said that there will be no way to compete at the top of the game in two weeks’ time.”
Tom Stoltman is excited for the future, as he will be continuing his path alongside a new coach. It remains to be seen if he can recover in time for the 2024 Rogue Invitational, which will take place on November 8-10 in Aberdeen, Scotland.
