The 2021 CrossFit Games ran from July 27th — August 1st, at the Ranch, in Madison, WI. After four grueling days of action, Tia-Clair Toomey has won her fifth Fittest Woman on Earth® title, and Justin Medeiros is the new Fittest Man on Earth®.
It has been a tough week in Madison, as athletes have been vying for their spots among the mountaintop of the best CrossFit athletes in the world. We have seen more than a few injuries, and the athletes have been cut down to the final ten, but in the end, it was Toomey and Medeiros who ended the day on top.
It was a sure thing for Tia-Clair, by the time the first event concluded on the final day of the CrossFit Games. After an awesome showing that saw her score the new record for individual event wins, she had enough of a lead over the competition to secure her place as number one by the time the final round of events happened.
However unlike Toomey, things were far less certain on the Men’s side of the competition, as they were all determined to be the new Fittest Man on Earth®, in the wake of 5x winner Mat Fraser’s retirement. In the end, Justin Medeiros would come out on top, but that was not without a bit of a battle, coming down to the final event.
On the Teams side of things, CrossFit Mayhem reigned supreme, winning the vast majority of the events early on in the contest. While things got a little closer at the end of the contest, it was clear that they were the team to beat heading into the final day of the CrossFit Games.
