Strongman Trey Mitchell and Strongwoman Gabi Dixson have made history by setting two new world records each at the 2023 Rogue Record Breakers event, which was held at the Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus, Ohio. The Arnold Sports Festival is one of the most prestigious events due to the strongman and strongwoman repertoire, among other attractions. However, Trey and Gabi’s accomplishments have now added further to its allure.

Trey Mitchell’s World Records

Despite competing for two days in the grueling 2023 Arnold Strongman Classic, Trey Mitchell managed to get a good night’s sleep and enjoy a nice breakfast, which likely played a key role in his success. Feeling refreshed, Trey signed himself up for two world record attempts, both of which turned out to be successful.

Trey Mitchell set his first world record in the Thor’s Hammer Hold event, in which athletes must hold a 65-pound hammer in front of them with straight arms for as long as possible. Trey managed to hold the hammer for an impressive 63 seconds, breaking his own previous World Record of 60.72 seconds, which he had set at the same show the previous year.

The second World Record that Trey Mitchell set was in the Stone Over Bar event, a new addition to the Arnold Strongman Classic. In this event, athletes must lift a 460-pound stone over a bar for as many reps as possible within a two-minute time cap. The catch is that no tacky, a glue-like substance used to prevent the stone from slipping, was allowed. This made the event much more challenging, as the athletes had to rely solely on their grip strength and technique to lift the stone. However, Trey Mitchell’s training without tacky made this exercise just another standard exercise for him. Trey managed to lift the stone over the bar five times, setting the new World Record for the event.

Gabi Dixson’s World Records

Unlike Trey Mitchell, Gabi Dixson did not compete in the 2023 Arnold Strongwoman Classic but instead came solely for her world record attempts at the Rogue Record Breakers event.

Gabi Dixson set her first world record at the Rogue Record Breakers event in the Thor’s Hammer Hold event. The format was identical to the men’s event, but the women’s hammer weighed 50 pounds instead. Gabi managed to hold the hammer for an impressive 49.15 seconds, breaking the previous record of 39.09 seconds set by Rebecca Roberts

Gabi Dixson’s second World Record at the Rogue Record Breakers came in the Replica Dinnie Stone Hold event. This event requires athletes to lift the iconic Dinnie Stones, which weigh a total of 332.5 kg (732.5 lbs), off the ground and hold them for as long as possible. The Dinnie Stones are considered one of the most iconic and challenging feats in the sport of strongman and strongwoman, and require immense strength and technique to lift. Gabi managed to lift the stones off the ground and hold them for an impressive 6.86 seconds, breaking the previous record of 1.33 seconds set by Chloe Brennan last year.

This is the second time that Gabi Dixson has displayed a superhuman level of grip strength, as she did the same at the 2022 World’s Strongest Nation contest. During that competition, Gabi managed to outperform numerous women and men in the Hercules Hold event, blowing the minds of everyone who witnessed it.

Seeing that the prize for breaking a record at the 2023 Rogue Record Breakers was set to $5,000, both Trey Mitchell and Gabi Dixson walked away with $10,000 in their pockets. In addition, as Trey placed 4th at the 2023 Arnold Strongman Classic, he earned himself an additional $15,000 there, making this weekend very successful for him.
