Medal table
Weightlifting medal table by nation
Medals for the total (the best snatch plus the best clean and jerk) at every Olympic Games and senior World Championships from 1998 to 2026: 1,413 medals, won by lifters from 65 nations. The count starts in 1998, the year the IWF reset its weight classes and every world record with them. China leads with 156 golds, ahead of North Korea with 37. The count includes the 30 medals won so far at the 2026 World Weightlifting Championships, which run to 8 November; ten of the 16 classes are decided, and the rest will be added when the meet ends.
The nations with the most gold medals
Ranked by gold. Each bar is a nation's medals of every colour, Olympic Games and World Championships together, on one scale, so a nation with more silver and bronze can have the longer bar.
Every nation with a medal
Ranked by gold, then silver, then bronze, as the Olympic medal table is. The Olympic Games and World Championships figures read gold, silver and bronze; a dash means none.

The top nations in women's and men's weightlifting
The ten nations with the most golds in each. Women's weightlifting joined the Olympic Games in 2000, so their Olympic medals start there; their world championship medals start in 1998, like the men's.

How the medals are counted
- Medals for the total only. World Championships also award medals in the snatch and the clean and jerk; those are not counted here, and the Olympic Games award the total alone.
- Places follow the published results, so a medal reallocated after a doping retest counts for the lifter who holds it now.
- A lifter counts for the nation on record for them. The few who changed nations count for that one nation.
