Weightlifting World Records

The current senior world record for snatch, clean and jerk and total in every weight class on the IWF list in force since 1 August 2026. Where a class has no record yet, the table shows its world standard: the figure a lifter has to beat to set the first one. Classes marked LA 2028 are on the programme for the next Olympic Games; the records themselves can be set at any competition the IWF approves.

The rules

How weightlifting world records work

Each class has three records: snatch, clean and jerk, and total. A new record must beat the old one by at least 1 kg and be set at a competition the IWF has approved for records, with doping control.

When the IWF changes its class list, records only carry over to classes whose limits stay the same. The August 2026 list kept the record holders in the unchanged classes and gave each new class a set of world standards. See every weight class and what changed.
