Men's snatch to clean and jerk ratio by class

The median is between 77% and 79% in every men's class, so bodyweight barely changes the ratio. The rows are today's weight classes, in force since August 2026. Eight in ten lifters in a class sit between its 10th and 90th percentile figures. One lifter-season is a lifter's best total of a season, with the snatch and clean and jerk from that meet, so a lifter who competed for five years counts five times.

What your own ratio tells you

A ratio near the median means the two lifts are in balance. Well below it, the snatch usually has the most room to grow; well above it, the clean and jerk does, often the jerk. Enter both lifts in the Sinclair calculator to see where your own ratio sits.

Data: the snatch and clean and jerk from each lifter's best total of a season at national meets in seven countries, 114,066 men's and 100,121 women's lifter-seasons, through 2026.
