2023 CrossFit Open Overall Results — Jeffrey Adler & Mal O’Brien Win

Adler and O'Brien rise to the top after three weeks of the 2023 CrossFit Open.

The 2023 CrossFit Open, now in its 13th edition, has once again brought together the worldwide CrossFit community in a three-week online fitness competition. The Open marked the beginning of the season and served as the first step towards qualifying for the CrossFit Games. This year’s event ran from February 16th to March 6th, with weekly workouts being released every Thursday. After three intense weeks of competition, Jeffrey Adler and Mal O’Brien emerged victorious in the men’s and women’s divisions, respectively.

Jeffrey Adler, a Canadian athlete, finished with a remarkable 108 points, over 100 points ahead of Tola Morakinyo, who took second place. Adler’s win in the second week’s workout, 23.2, was tremendous for him, as it ultimately secured his first-place finish overall as well. This is Adler’s second Open win, having previously won in 2021 alongside Tia-Clair Toomey.

In the women’s division, Mal O’Brien once again emerged as the champion, winning back-to-back CrossFit Opens. O’Brien finished with 116 points, while Paige Powers took second place with 137 points. O’Brien’s win in the 23.2A workout further solidified her position at the top of the leaderboard.

  • Mal O’Brien — 116 points
  • Paige Powers — 137 points
  • Emma Lawson — 287 points

  • Elena Carratala Sanahuja — 297 points

Jeffrey Adler At A Glance

Jeffrey Adler’s impressive CrossFit numbers speak to his consistent performance in the sport. He has appeared in the CrossFit Games four times, with his best placement being fifth in 2020 and 2022. In the Worldwide Ranking System, Adler is currently in sixth place, and he has won the open twice, achieving the feat in 2021 and now in 2023. With his impressive performance in this year’s Open, Adler is undoubtedly a force to be reckoned with in the upcoming CrossFit Games.

  • 23.1 Workout — 6th place
  • 23.2A Workout — 37th place
  • 23.2B Workout — 60th place
  • 23.3 Workout — 5th place

Mal O’Brien At A Glance

The 19-year-old American athlete, Mal O’Brien, is considered one of the rising stars in the women’s division. She made history as the youngest ever to win a CrossFit Games event two years ago and was also awarded Rookie of the Year in the same year. O’Brien’s consistent performance in the sport is reflected in her CrossFit numbers, which include four CrossFit Games appearances and a second-place finish in her last appearance. In the Worldwide Ranking System, O’Brien is currently in third place, and her best Open placement is first, achieved in 2022 and now in 2023.

With Tia Clair-Toomey’s absence due to pregnancy, Mal O’Brien has a high chance of winning the title of Fittest Woman on Earth this year. In addition, Jeffrey Adler has proved that he has what it takes to go all the way. So, he will be one of the main contenders for the title as well. The next stage, 2023 CrossFit Quarterfinals, will take place from March 16-19, in an online format.
