The 2023 Republic of Texas Pro show took place in Austin, Texas on Saturday, July 8. This highly anticipated event showcased talented athletes from the Men’s Physique, Bikini, and Wellness divisions. The winners of this prestigious competition secured their spots in the upcoming Mr. Olympia contest. This year’s 2023 Mr. Olympia takes place from Nov. 2-5 in Orlando Florida, inside the Orange County Convention Center. Athletes have until October 9 to earn their respective invites.
Men’s Physique Jeremy Potvin was in the first call out and he demonstrated a great display of balance and brought a full chest to the stage. In the end, he scored a second-place finish. Prior to that, his last appearance saw him secure second place at the 2022 Chicago Pro. After achieving an impressive fourth place on the Men’s Physique Olympia stage, Jeremy Potvin was notably absent from the 2022 contest.
Jason Huynh, who last competed at the 2023 Mile High Pro show and scored 5th place. After a fierce competition against Potvin, Jason emerged victorious, securing first place. Later this year, he will have the opportunity to compete against the current Men’s Physique Olympia champion, Erin Banks.
Steven Cao was another name in the mix, whose last show saw him take silver in a close battle at the 2023 DC Pro. But this time he settled for 5th place.
In the Bikini division, fans expected a big performance from the legendary India Paulino. Paulino is a highly accomplished Bikini competitor, having won two Bikini International titles and achieving top-three placements at the Bikini Olympia on two occasions. In this show, she ended in second place. Meanwhile, Lexus Redmond emerged victorious. Before that, she secured a fifth-place finish at the 2023 Pittsburgh Pro and a second-place finish at the 2023 Dallas Pro.
In the Wellness division, the battle for the title was fierce between Stern and Renee Jewett. Stern emerged as the winner, impressing the judges with a flawless performance. While Stern has previously competed in the Olympia in the Bikini division, this marks her first qualification in the Wellness category. Jewett put up a strong fight and secured the second-place position as ranked by all the judges. Tracy Williams was awarded the bronze medal in this exciting competition.
