Event One — Deadlift

The winning number on the first event proved to be much higher than anyone expected, as it came out to 480 kilograms (1,058.2 pounds). Moreover, Rayno Nel and George Sulaiman ended up achieving the same number, thus having to share the top spot. On the other hand, seven other athletes tied for third place with 440 kilograms (970 pounds) each.

  • Rayno Nel — 480 kilograms
  • George Sulaiman — 480 kilograms
  • Evans Nana — 440 kilograms
  • Patrick Eibel — 440 kilograms
  • Brian Kichton — 440 kilograms
  • Adam Roszkowski — 440 kilograms
  • Kelin Mills — 440 kilograms
  • Kane Francis — 440 kilograms
  • Dean Shelley — 440 kilograms
  • Armand Goosen — 400 kilograms
  • Majaya David Mberi — No Lift
  • Péter Juhász — No Lift

Event Two — Farmer’s Walk

The second event of the competition was a timed Farmer’s Carry. Consequently, the athletes were tasked with picking up and carrying two 150-kilogram (330.7-pound) implements for a distance of 40 meters. The aim was to finish the event in the shortest time possible.

Rayno Nel has an absolutely incredible run on the Farmer’s Walk, crushing his rivals with ease. His final time came out to 17.59 seconds, meaning that no other athlete came even close to him. In turn, he extended his overall lead.

The second place went to Evans Nana, who is mainly known for his prowess in any movement event. However, he finished nearly three seconds after Rayno, which shows just how fast the winner of the event was. Armand Goosen rounded up the top three with a time of 23.53 seconds.

  • Rayno Nel — 17.59 seconds
  • Evans Nana — 20.26 seconds
  • Armand Goosen — 23.53 seconds
  • Patrick Eibel — 27.37 seconds
  • Brian Kichton — 29.57 seconds
  • Majaya David Mberi — 38 meters
  • Adam Roszkowski — 37.5 meters
  • Kelin Mills — 36.6 meters
  • George Sulaiman — 34.2 meters
  • Péter Juhász — 32 meters
  • Kane Francis — 20 meters
  • Dean Shelley — 14 meters

Event Three — Truck Pull

With the third event of the 2024 Strongman Champions League (SCL) Africa, the athletes were tasked with pulling a vehicle of undeclared weight for a distance of 20 meters. Finishing the event was a difficult task by itself, but the athletes also had to go as fast as possible to secure a winning time.

The outcome of the third event was similar to how the first two events went, as Rayno Nel once again topped the leaderboards. He needed just over 23 seconds to finish the event, giving other athletes no chance to even challenge him.

George Sulaiman found himself in a position behind Rayno Nel with a time of 26.91 seconds, narrowly beating out Kellin Mills in third place. However, this event proved that everyone was basically battling for second-place overall, as Rayno Nel was nearly unbeatable.

  • Rayno Nel — 23.82 seconds
  • George Sulaiman — 26.91 seconds
  • Kelin Mills — 27.13 seconds
  • Armand Goosen — 27.88 seconds
  • Brian Kichton — 28.11 seconds
  • Adam Roszkowski — 28.37 seconds
  • Evans Nana — 29.05 seconds
  • Patrick Eibel — 29.52 seconds
  • Majaya David Mberi — 30.29 seconds
  • Péter Juhász — 31.04 seconds
  • Dean Shelley — 31.66 seconds
  • Kane Francis — 33.16 seconds

Event Four — Log Lift

The penultimate event of the 2024 Strongman Champions League (SCL) Africa was a test of upper body strength. Specifically, the competitors took on a 150-kilogram (330-pound) Log, which they had to overhead press for as many reps as possible. However, they were limited by a 60-second time cap.

Rayno Nel continued showing off his diversity with a win in a Log Lift event as well. He ended up locking out seven repetitions to take his fourth consecutive event win of the day. Rayno did, however, have to share the top spot with Adam Roszkowski, who also performed seven reps.

Evans Nana found his way into the top three once again by locking out six repetitions. He was close to making it a three-way tie for first place, but the seventh rep was just not possible for him on the day.

  • Rayno Nel — 7 reps
  • Adam Roszkowski — 7 reps
  • Evans Nana — 6 reps
  • Péter Juhász — 5 reps
  • Brian Kichton — 5 reps
  • Kelin Mills — 5 reps
  • Kane Francis — 4 reps
  • Patrick Eibel — 3 reps
  • Dean Shelley — 3 reps
  • George Sulaiman — 2 reps
  • Armand Goosen — No Lift
  • Majaya David Mberi — No Lift

Event Five — Sandbag Loading Race

In the last event of the competition, the athletes faced four sandbags increasing in weight, which they had to pick up, carry for ten meters, and then load onto a platform. They were given a 75-second time limit but had a goal of finishing in the shortest time possible.

For the first time in the competition, Rayno Nel was not the winner of the event. Instead, Kane Francis turned out to be a standout athlete, finishing the event in just 18.64 seconds. He had less than a desirable performance overall but managed to make up for it a bit in the final event.

Adam Roszkowski was just 0.05 seconds slower than Francis, but still had to settle for second place. Evans Nana took third with a time of 19.13, beating Rayno Nel by just 0.09 seconds as well.

  • Kane Francis — 4 in 18.64 s
