The second day of the 2024 World’s Strongest Man Finals wrapped up the competition in Myrtle Beach, as the last three events took place. The events in question were Conan’s Wheel, Deadlift, and the Atlas Stones. They proved to be extremely exciting, resulting in some incredible performances that ultimately saw Tom Stoltman become the 2024 World’s Strongest Man.
Tom Stoltman was in the lead going into day two, but a common opinion was that he would encounter a lot of resistance from the other athletes. That was not quite the case, as Tom continued with his mind-blowing performances on day two as well, surprising everyone with performances in the Conan’s Wheel and Deadlift. So, he easily secured his third ever WSM title.

Event Recap
Event Four — Reign Total Body Fuel’s Conan’s Wheel
Opening up the second day of the 2024 WSM Finals was the Conan’s Wheel, which is known to be one of the most difficult and painful events in Strongman. For this event, the athletes used the Zercher grip to pick up a beam that was fixed in the center. Once they picked it up, the athletes carried it around in circles for the maximum distance possible. The weight of this year’s Conan’s Wheel was 250 kilograms (551.2 pounds).

A bit of rain made the Conan’s Wheel even more complicated for some athletes, but the organizers made sure to dry everything up before every attempt. In the end, Pavlo Kordiyaka, who was the first man to perform this event, also managed to win it with a result of 922 degrees. So, he almost carried the beam for three full circles, which was more than anyone else achieved.
Mitchell Hooper looked in pain throughout the entire Conan’s Wheel attempt, but really showed his resilience by pushing through and slowly going step by step. In the end, his limit turned out to be 821 degrees, which was enough for second second-place.
Tom Stoltman has had some underwhelming results on this event in past years, but he displayed tremendous improvements at the 2024 WSM. He picked up an incredible pace from the start and looked like he would even exceed the results of Hooper and Kordiyaka. However, he suddenly dropped the implement and finished with a score of 777 degrees. This was enough for a third-place finish, and perhaps one of his most crucial performances this year.
- Pavlo Kordiyaka — 922 °
- Mitchell Hooper — 821 °
- Tom Stoltman — 777 °
- Mathew Ragg — 748 °
- Wesley Derwinsky — 681 °
- Tristain Hoath — 643 °
- Evan Singleton — 598 °
- Luke Stoltman — 527 °
- Austin Andrade — 526 °
- Aivars Šmaukstelis — 486 °
Event Five — BFGoodrich Tires HD Terrain Deadlift
The second-to-last event of the entire 2024 WSM competition was the Tire Deadlift. The set weight for this event was 374 kilograms (824.5 pounds), with the main goal being to perform as many repetitions as possible. The time cap was 60 seconds.
Mathew Ragg is known to be a powerhouse, esspecially when it comes to the deadlifts. So, a great performance was expected from him. He definitely delivered, having locked out eight repetitions in a head-to-head duel against Tom Stoltman. In turn, Mathew won the event and pulled himself back into contention for the podium.
Tom Stoltman once again performed even better than anyone predicted, locking out seven repetitions to finish in second place. Tom tried to do another rep and even managed to get off the floor. However, he was not able to lock it out and had to settle for seven.
Tristan Hoath also performed seven reps, meaning that he tied for second-place with Tom Stoltman. This was bad news for Mitchell Hooper, whose torn calluses prevented him from getting into the top three.
- Mathew Ragg — 8 reps
- Tom Stoltman — 7 reps
- Tristain Hoath — 7 reps
- Mitchell Hooper — 6 reps
- Austin Andrade — 6 reps
- Wesley Derwinsky — 6 reps
- Evan Singleton — 5 reps
- Luke Stoltman — 4 reps
- Aivars Šmaukstelis — 3 reps
- Pavlo Kordiyaka — 1 rep
Event Six — Atlas Stones
The final and deciding event of the 2024 WSM was the Atlas Stones. This has been a traditional conclusion to many WSM competitions in the past, and it happened to be once again this year. The organizers opted to use an extremely heavy set of Atlas Stone, whose weight ranged from 140-kg (308.6-lb) to 210-kg (463-lb). The goal was to lift all five stones onto their respective platforms. The athlete with the fastest time to finish the event won.
Tom Stoltman officially confirmed his victory at the 2024 World’s Strongest Man competition in quite a fashion, being the only man to successfully load all five stones. All other men found the fifth stone to be beyond their capabilities, but Tom made light work of it.
The second place, both in this event and overall, went to Mitchell Hooper who was the fastest to load four stones. Mitchell went head-to-head with Tom, and applauded the new 2024 World’s Strongest Man after his performance. Hooper’s time to finish four stones was 37.75 seconds.
Another Canadian, Tristain Hoath, made it into the top three of the Atlas Stones, finishing four implements in a time of 43.79 seconds. So, he placed third, less than one second ahead of Pavlo Kordiyaka.
- Tom Stoltman — 5 in 38.14 s
- Mitchell Hooper — 4 in 37.35 s
- Tristain Hoath — 4 in 43.79 s
- Pavlo Kordiyaka — 4 in 44.58 s
- Mathew Ragg — 4 in 49.93 s
- Evan Singleton — 3 in 24.09 s
- Austin Andrade — 3 in 24.42 s
- Wesley Derwinsky — 3 in 30.80 s
- Aivars Šmaukstelis — 3 in 32.88 s
- Luke Stoltman — 3 in 36.09 s
