Classic Physique competitors met on the Expo Stage at the Greater Columbus Convention Center for the 2026 Arnold Classic prejudging. This contest began on Friday, March 6, at 12:30 PM EST. By the end of prejudging, Wesley Vissers, Matheus Menegate, Kim Angel, and Andrea Mammoli were fighting for first place.
Mike Sommerfeld, the reigning champion, showcased a perfect balance of fullness and conditioning last year. However, he failed to make the weight cap and was forced to withdraw. That means a new champ will emerge over this weekend.
All eyes are on 2024 champ Wesley Vissers. He fell to fifth at last year’s Arnld but brought up his quads and hamstrings to reassert himself as a contender. Other threats have gotten attention before the show; Andrea Mammoli, Matheus Menegate, and Sam Sulek entered with true wildcard status.
Throughout prejudging, Vissers’ tapered waist and balanced muscle helped his quarter turns right out the gate. Menegate held his own in the front poses, and his striations caught the judges’ eyes. Heading into this evening, Wesley Vissers, Matheus Menegate, Kim Angel, and Andrea Mammoli appear to be battling for gold.
