The 2023 World’s Strongest Man competition is set to take place in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina from April 19-23, a day later than originally scheduled. The contest will begin with a qualifying stage, which will feature the first six events, with the finals consisting of another six unique events. The contest has been divided into two days of qualifying, following which the 10 strongest athletes will move on to the finals. It will then take two days for the finals to reveal who will be the 2023 World’s Strongest Man.

Day One, April 19th — Qualifying

  • Event One — Loading Race – 8 a.m EST
  • Event Two — Deadlift Machine – 11:29 a.m. EST
  • Event Three — Log Ladder – 4:49 p.m. EST

On day one, competitors will take part in the Loading Race, Deadlift Machine, and Log Ladder events.

The Loading Race will test the athletes’ ability to quickly load and unload weights from a platform, while the Deadlift Machine will challenge them to either lift as much weight as possible, or perform as many reps with a certain weight using a specialized machine.

The Log Ladder event will require the competitors to lift a series of progressively heavier logs one after the other.

Day Two, April 20th — Qualifying

  • Event Four — Conan’s Wheel – 8 a.m. EST
  • Event Five — Kettlebell Toss – 1:20 p.m. EST
  • Special Event — Stone Off – 6:13 p.m. EST

Coming into day two will see the athletes compete in the Conan’s Wheel, Kettlebell Toss, and Stone Off events.

The Conan’s Wheel event is a test of pure strength and pain endurance, as competitors must lift a giant implant and carry it around for distance.

Finally, the Stone Off event will be a direct battle between 2nd and 3rd place finishers in each group. The two men will lift and throw the Atlas Stone to the other man’s side until one gives up, with the winner of the duel going through to the finals.

Day Three, April 22nd — Finals

  • Event One — Fingal’s Fingers – 8 a.m. EST
  • Event Two — Knaack Deadlift – 10:41 a.m. EST
  • Event Three — Reign Shield Carry – 2:18 p.m. EST

2023 World’s Strongest Man’s day three will begin with the Fingal’s Fingers event, in which competitors must lift and flip a series of heavy finger-shaped weights.

They will then move on to the Deadlift event, testing their raw strength by either attempting to lift as much weight as possible, or completing as many reps as possible with a certain weight.

The Shield Carry event will challenge the athletes to carry a heavy shield shaped implement, once again testing their quickness and endurance.

Day Four, April 23rd — Finals

  • Event Four — Max Dumbbell – 8 a.m. EST
  • Event Five — Vehicle Pull – 10:10 a.m. EST
  • Event Six — Atlas Stones – 1:54 p.m. EST

Day four of the 2023 World’s Strongest Man will feature the Max Dumbbell event, in which the athletes will attempt to lift the heaviest dumbbell possible.

They will then move on to the Vehicle Pull event where they will pull an extremely heavy vehicle over a course of some distance in a certain timeframe.

Finally, the Atlas Stones event will test their ability to lift and place progressively heavier Atlas stones on a platform.

The full lineup of athletes is still not available, but we already know some interesting facts. For example, this will be the final WSM appearance for the 4x Champion, Brian Shaw. However, Shaw will have to beat the reigning and 2x WSM, Tom Stoltman, and a few other athletes, to win the elusive fifth title. There is a lot to look forward to at the 2023 World’s Strongest Man.
