The 2023 APF Asian Classic Powerlifting Championships are taking place from December 11-18 in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. It presents the pinnacle of drug-tested powerlifting in Asia, and, as such, it gathers the greatest athletes from the continent. Among them was Farhanna Farid, a representative of Singapore in the 52-kilogram weight class. She has already made a name for herself in previous appearances, but has now solidified her legacy with a 208-kilogram (458.6-pound) Raw Deadlift IPF World Record.

Farhanna Farid had an incredible deadlift session at the 2023 APF Asian Championships. She opened up with a pull of 190 kilograms (418.9 pounds), which was extremely easy for her. She then moved on to 203.5 kilograms (448.6 pounds) for her second attempt, already outperforming the U52KG IPF World Record.

However, Farhanna Farid managed to raise the bar much higher on her third and final attempt, where she deadlifted 208 kilograms (458.6 pounds) for a new IPF World Record. With nothing but a lifting belt, Farhanna got out on the platform, set up her sumo stance, grabbed the bar with a mixed grip, and swiftly lifted the weight.

The previous U52KG IPF World Record stood at 203 kilograms (447.5 pounds), and it was in possession of none other than Farhanna Farid as well. She set that mark at the 2023 IPF World Classic Powerlifting Championships just six months ago.

Farhanna Farid has been competing in powerlifting since 2018 and has taken part in a total of nine sanctioned competitions so far. She has also won seven of those competitions and is a 3x U52KG Asian Champion. Moreover, Farhanna has set deadlift World Records on over five occasions.

Farhanna Farid is looking stronger than ever now, which is also backed up by the fact that she set new competition PRs in almost all lifts at the 2023 APF Asian Championships. So, it is safe to say that Farhanna will chase a high ranking at the World Championships in 2024. She finished in eighth and seventh place during her last two appearances. So, it is likely that she will improve on that next year.
