Check out DLB’s three tips below:
- One and a half reps
- Use alternating Iso-holds
- Use resistance bands
According to Dana Linn Bailey, lifters can build bigger muscles with more time under tension using one and a half reps.
“Here’s three tips on how to get bigger muscles with lighter weight. First one, one and a half reps, you’re going to go all the way up. Come down half, all the way back up, all the way down. More time under tension.”
In addition, she advocated for alternating isolateral holds, which also accumulate time under tension for the lifter. Bailey also encouraged others to incorporate resistance bands into their workouts, a technique she relies on often.
“Next one, alternating iso-holds. You’re going to hold one side as the other one rests. Again, more time under tension. Add a resistance band. This is going to create tension all the way throughout the movement, especially at the top,” DLB shared.
