Five-time Classic Physique Olympia champion Chris Bumstead has been busy since his latest win at the 2023 Mr. Olympia. In a recent YouTube video, Bumstead smashed an intense chest day workout while sharing an update on his stem cell treatments. He also revealed that he is currently building an ‘extensive’ at-home gym.
Chris Bumstead has quickly become a legend in the realm of bodybuilding after winning five consecutive Classic Physique Olympia titles. However, it hasn’t been without its challenges. Bumstead has remained transparent about the difficulties he has faced along the way, which includes adding yet another victory to his belt despite having suffered a lat tear.
Since then, aside from becoming a new dad, Cbum has been focused on rest and recovery. Part of that process has been undergoing preventative treatments for his autoimmune disease called IGF Neuropathy. To keep his ‘mild dysfunction’ from causing serious health concerns, Bumstead has been getting regular stem cell treatments.

In between his training session, the reigning five-time Classic Physique Olympia reflected on his second stem cell procedure with Dr. Khan. ‘Cbum’ received state-of-the-art gene therapy and intravenous stem cells to strengthen his autoimmune health while aiding inflammation.
“Went back to Mexico, did some more stem cells with Dr. Khan, three weeks ago,” said Bumstead. “But yeah, I’m just taking care of my health now so I’m trying to consistently see him, get some stem cells done. Last year, I got them in my knees, in my shoulders, and my joints, and all this shit. This year, I just got an IV of it, more of a regenerative health upkeep you could say rather than completely heal everything.”
Bumstead explains that he spent a few days in Mexico while receiving the stem cell treatment.
“We were down in Mexico for like four or five days for that. That always makes me feel a little bit better, flush the inflammation out of me. It’s not like you do it and you feel like a superhuman after. It’s more of like a continuous internal health decrease inflammation for myself, regulate my autoimmune, keep it consistent.”
He says this measure helped with his inflammation and has kept his autoimmune disorder under control.
“I definitely noticed I’ve had less overall inflammation and I’ve had no autoimmune responses since doing it so, something is working at least. Obviously, it’s new technology and science, so it’s very expensive. I will say that, but for me, it’s worth it. I’ll be the guinea pig in the years to come to see if it’s worthwhile for other people to do it,” adds Bumstead.
Cbum also reveals that he doesn’t mind being the test subject for the advances in modern medicine.
“It was different types of cells,” says Bumstead. “Science and technology have come to a point where they can use those cells safely through fucking gene therapy and crazy manipulation and all that stuff.”
“People are going to live forever,” shares Bumstead.
As for home life with a new baby, Chris Bumstead shared that he is working on building an ‘extensive and incredible’ at-home gym.
“This is the beginning of the home gym. This machine right here is the machine of all machines for a home gym, very extensive and incredible because it does literally everything. This thing is called the Prime Prodigy Rack with a few different versions. There’s a single stack and a double stack cables.”
His home gym is equipped with all the bells and whistles you could imagine a five-time Classic Physique Olympia champion needing.
“In front of it, it has a rack for a squat rack, attachments, it’s got pull-ups, it’s got high pulleys, it’s got low pulleys that adjust. You can put on these different benches that kind of fit in there so you can sit and row, you can sit and do pulldowns with your feet strapped in. It’s got literally everything you can pretty much imagine in here.”
“It’s got the bench that hooks up to it with all the fancy attachments, it’s got a dip bar, a squat rack that goes in there, a step-up that attaches, it literally has everything in one piece right here.”
Of course let’s not forget about his fiancée and mother of his baby girl, Bikini star Courtney King. Bumstead plans on clearing out a section for a treadmill to make it easier for her to complete workouts while at home with the baby.
“We’re going to clear more space out and move the treadmill over there. Maybe get like a glute-ham raise, some dumbbells. Mainly, it’s going to be for light workouts for myself, like arms or something like that, or maybe when I’m closer to Olympia, just doing full workouts here when it’s less dramatic but mainly for Courtney to get workouts in with the baby.”
In addition to all the stem cell treatments, Chris Bumstead has also been working on his appearance. He and his brother-in-law Iain Valliere both received hair transplants in Turkey. By the time Bumstead takes to the 2024 Mr. Olympia stage he will be boasting both a full head of hair and massive muscles.
While Chris Bumstead appears to be enjoying his off-season to focus on his health and family, it’s safe to assume that he will be cranking things up a notch soon. With his eye on the prize, fans can’t wait to see Bumstead take the stage as he looks to secure his sixth Classic Physique Olympia title this October.
