The third and penultimate day of the 2024 CrossFit Games has officially concluded in Fort Worth, Texas, meaning that just one night separates us from crowning the new Fittest Man and Woman on Earth. The current favorites to win the competition are Tia-Clair Toomey and Brent Fikowski, as they lead their respective divisions.
The biggest takeaway from the third day of the 2024 CrossFit Games is Tia-Clair Toomey’s comeback, since she won two more events and pretty much paved the way towards her 7th CrossFit Games title. This quick turnaround was hard to predict, considering that she was not able to compete last year due to pregnancy.
On the other hand, CrossFit Games veteran Brent Fikowski has the chance of a lifetime to become the Fittest Man On Earth. He has a 45-point lead ahead of James Sprague, meaning that he just needs solid performances on the final day of the competition in order to achieve his dream.

Individual Events Recap
Chad
Chad is easily one of the most difficult single-exercise workouts made in CrossFit. Having to climb 1,000 steps while wearing a weighted ruck is certainly not something that anyone can do. The repetition of the motions completely exhausts the athletes, leaving their legs and core completely burned out.
For time:
- 1,000 step-ups (35/45 lb)
*Completed as 250 trips
Men’s Results
While height did offer a physical advantage to some athletes on the Chad workout, mental resilience and determination were key to a good performance on the opening event of day three. However, after nearly 45 minutes of performing the workout, two men competed for the win and were divided by just a few reps. Moreover, Austin Hatfield was in the lead for a long time, but was overtaken by James Sprague during the final minutes of the workout.
The battle for third place was equally exciting, with Patrick Vellner and Roman Khrennikov being within just a few reps of each other. The Russian athlete was the one who won the duel, finishing the event in a time of 46:33.00, just 3 seconds faster than Vellner.
- James Sprague — 43:58.00
- Austin Hatfield — 44:09.00
- Roman Khrennikov — 46:33.00
- Patrick Vellner — 46:36.00
- Dallin Pepper — 47:16.00
- Brent Fikowski — 47:36.00
- Jelle Hoste — 48:32.00
- Jay Crouch — 48:40.00
- Jayson Hopper — 49:16.00
- Harry Lightfoot — 49:44.00
Women’s Results
The Chad workout was extremely difficult for the women as well, as they climbed the same steps as men and carried a 35-pound backpack. Well, one woman was able to push herself to the limit throughout the entire event, which secured her an event win. That athlete was Emily Rolfe, who finished in a time of 47:01.00.
Gabriela Migala was the second woman to finish all 1000 step-ups, crossing the finish line 14 seconds after Rolfe. Haley Adams continued tallying up points in her incredible return to the CrossFit Games, finishing in third place with a time of 47:46.00.
- Emily Rolfe — 47:01.00
- Gabriela Migala — 47:15.00
- Haley Adams — 47:46.00
- Tia-Clair Toomey — 48:19.00
- Aimee Cringle — 48:46.00
- Bethany Flores — 49:14.00
- Andreia Pinheiro — 49:24.00
- Chloe Gauvin-David — 49:28.00
- Paige Semenza — 49:46.00
- Caroline Stanley — 49:65.00
Clean Ladder
The Clean is one of the core weightlifting movements, which makes it a perfect test of fitness and strength. Moreover, the athletes had to perform multiple rounds of multiple reps with progressively increasing weight. So, in theory, the large and conditioned athletes should have scored great points, but the technique of the Clean also played a major role.
For time:
- Round 1: 3-3-2-2-1 cleans
- Round 2: 2-1-1-1 cleans
- Round 3: 1-1-1 cleans
Round 1: 165/175/185/195/205 lb / 255/265/275/285/295 lb
Round 2: 205/215/225/230 lb / 295/305/315/325 lb
Round 3: 230/240/250 lb / 325/345/365 lb
Men’s Results
The playing field was cut in half after each round, meaning that the third round consisted of just ten athletes. They then faced the challenge of Cleaning three incredibly heavy barbells, with the heaviest one coming out to 365 pounds. So, while the first two rounds were all about going fast, the final round was about who the strongest in the field was. Justin Medeiros prevailed under pressure and was the first athlete to successfully clean the heaviest barbell. His final time came out to 37.24 seconds.
Bruno Marins and Travis Mayer also lifted the heaviest weight just a fraction of a second later than Justin. In turn, Bruno finished second with a time of 37.74 seconds, while Travis Mayer had to settle for third despite being just 0.17 seconds slower than Marins.
- Justin Medeiros — 37.24
- Bruno Marins — 37.74
- Travis Mayer — 37.91
- Jack Rozema — 41.73
- Ricky Garard — 42.48
Women’s Results
No matter the event or the task, Tia-Clair Toomey is always the favorite to win. That was seen in the Clean Ladder event, where she claimed another victory. Acknowledging the importance of each point, Tia-Clair is always giving her all to top the leaderboards. In this case, she had to pull out the last atom of energy in order to beat Kyra Milligan by just 0.1 seconds.

Kyra Milligan would have crushed anyone she went up against in this type of event, but she was unfortunate enough to compete in the era of Tia-Clair Toomey. Blasting through all three Cleans, Kyra did not make a single mistake, but still ended up in second place.
- Tia-Clair Toomey — 25.05
- Kyra Milligan — 25.15
- Alex Gazan — 27.49
- Gabriela Migala — 31.98
- Emma Lawson 1:13.61
Push Pull 2.0
The final Individual event of day three was the Push Pull 2.0. The name was quite adequate, considering that athletes had to perform multiple handstand push-ups which were a very complex movement. Then, they had to pull a sled, which is an immensely difficult task to perform after the Chad and Clean Ladder workouts.
For time:
- 45 handstand push-ups
- 80-foot sled pull from standing (110/180 lb)
- 30 strict handstand push-ups
- 80-foot sled pull seated from the platform
- 15 freestanding handstand push-ups
Time cap: 10 minutes
Men’s Results
The freestanding handstand push-ups proved to be the biggest obstacle for a lot of men. In fact, many of them were unable to complete the event purely because of how difficult the technique is to master. However, Saxon Panchik did not have a problem on either portion of the event and finished in an impressive time of 6:31.80 to take the maximum points. In fact, Saxon’s performance might arguably be one of the best ones we’ve seen at the 2024 CrossFit Games overall.
For reference, Brent Fikowski finished in second-place with a time of 7:08.36. However, his result served him much better, since it secured him the overall lead going into the final day of the competition. Jay Crouch finished in third place, but it definitely felt like he could have placed higher, considering that he was well ahead of Brent Fikowski’s pace up until the freestanding handstand push-ups.
- Saxon Panchik — 6:31.80
- Brent Fikowski — 7:08.36
- Jay Crouch — 7:24.83
- Ruan Potgieter — 7:35.94
- Justin Medeiros — 7:56.36
- Calum Clements — 8:05.76
- Cole Greashaber — 8:06.75
- Cole Sager — 8:15.51
- Travis Mayer — 8:29.66
- Jayson Hopper — 8:37.48
Women’s Results
The final event of the third day was dominated by Lexi Neely, a rookie making her debut at the 2024 CrossFit Games. Carrying experience from her gymnastic days, Lexi managed to crush the final segment of 15 freestanding handstand push-ups. Her approach to the exercise was completely different from the others, as she managed to do nine consecutive reps and followed it up with another six reps. Nearly all of the other athletes performed the event in a format of five sets of three reps with rest in between. However, no one got close to Neely’s time of 06:03.41.
Alexis Raptis also had an incredible run at the final event of day three, but she was overshadowed by Lexi, who was nearly 30 seconds quicker. Alexis still finished in second place and picked up a lot of points.
- Lexi Neely — 06:03.41
- Alexis Raptis — 06:31.62
- Brooke Wells — 06:47.44
- Chloe Gauvin-David — 06:49.86
- Danielle Brandon — 06:51.80
- Claudia Gluck — 07:16.22
- Tia-Clair Toomey — 07:18.46
- Bethany Flores — 07:43.31
- Emily Rolfe — 07:49.20
- Gabriela Migala — 08:02.46

Teams Events Recap
Inverted Earthworm
While the earthworm cleans were a combined effort, the handstand push-ups did not have to be divided equally among the Team members. So, each team could put a focus on those who were more familiar with this movement, but they still had to pay attention not to overuse their abilities to the point of burning out.
For time:
- 20 Earthworm cleans
- 60 handstand push-ups
- 20 Earthworm cleans
- 40 strict handstand push-ups
- 20 Earthworm cleans
- 10 freestanding handstand push-ups
If the event did not look hard enough on paper, the fact that only one team managed to fully complete it is pretty good proof of its exceptional difficulty. The team in question is Peak 360 CrossFit, and even they managed to finish the event exactly as the time cap buzzer went off.
Raw Iron CrossFit Mayhem Thunder placed second since they were 13 repetitions off from finishing the event as well. That would usually be considered a bad performance, but in an event like this, Raw Iron CrossFit Mayhem Thunder actually performed incredibly. CrossFit Invictus performed five reps less than Raw Iron and thus finished in third place.

3 Amigos
Wrapping up the third day for the Teams was ‘3 Amigos’, where the members of the groups had to perform all exercises in synchronization with each other. Some of the movements that they had to perform are wall-ball shots, box jump-overs, and more. Coordination is one of the key aspects of CrossFit’s Team division, and this workout was a perfect way to put that to the test.
For time:
- 120 synchro wall-ball shots (14/20 lb, 10-foot target)
- 90 synchro GHD sit-ups
- 60 synchro box jump-overs
- 30 synchro dumbbell snatches (70/100 lb)
Raw Iron CrossFit Mayhem made an early push during the event, which secured them the lead. However, holding on to it was not an easy task as multiple teams pushed to overtake them. However, once the final exercise of the workout started, Raw Iron showed just how strong they are with dumbbells and easily secured the event win.
CrossFit Invictus, as well as two more teams, were hoping to win the event, but they ended up in a fierce battle for second-place instead. Going rep-for-rep on each exercise, it was impossible to predict who would win the battle. However, Invictus managed to place second, with Peak 360 CrossFit taking third place.
- Raw Iron CrossFit Mayhem — 12:10.64
- CrossFit Invictus — 12:17.49
- Peak 360 CrossFit — 12:22.51
