The 2026 World’s Strongest Man is the biggest competition of the year, since it attracts the most attention, leaving fans waiting for any information related to it. So, the organizers recently turned to Instagram and shared some good news, announcing that the 2026 WSM will take place on April 23-26 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
The World’s Strongest Man competition has been held all over the planet across the decades of its existence. However, in 2024 the competition moved to Myrtle Beach, which turned out to be a great experience for both the athletes and the fans. With that in mind, the organizers also held the 2025 WSM in Myrtle Beach, making more improvements to the venue, and it was a very enjoyable once again. Consequently, the 2026 World’s Strongest Man will be taking place in the same location for the third consecutive year.
The 2026 World’s Strongest Man is taking place just a bit earlier compared to previous years, as it usually occurred at some point in May, with the exception being the 2023 WSM. This time, it is scheduled for late April. However, the format of the competition remains straightforward, with the first two days being the qualifying stage, while the third and fourth days are reserved for the finals.
“We’re thrilled to welcome the World’s Strongest Man competition back to downtown Myrtle Beach for another exciting showcase of live sports action. This world-class competition has exceeded our expectations each year we’ve hosted it, bringing in competitors and fans from across the globe and putting Myrtle Beach on the world stage. Our community has wholeheartedly embraced this event and we’re looking forward to the economic and recreational impact that it brings to our entire region,” said Stuart Butler, President of Visit Myrtle Beach

The 2026 World’s Strongest Man will be the 49th edition of the competition, showing just how much history stands behind it and adding to the importance of the achievement for the athletes, whether that be winning or making it to the show. It has a lengthy list of winners, including all of the greatest Strongmen in history. So, there is no doubt that the athletes will give their all in hopes of joining the elite group of champions.
When it comes to the current active Strongmen, there are only a handful of athletes who have won the WSM in the past. While the lineups have not been revealed, some athletes have already revealed their plans for the season. So, we know that Tom Stoltman has cleared out his schedule with the goal of winning his fourth WSM title. That would make him only the sixth man to hold four or more titles, with the others being Žydrūnas Savickas, Magnús Ver Magnússon, Jón Páll Sigmarsson, Brian Shaw, and Mariusz Pudzianowski. Mariusz is the only one who has won the competition five times.
Fans certainly expect to see last year’s winner, Rayno Nel, at the 2026 World’s Strongest Man competition. He put on a show in 2025, becoming the first rookie to win the competition since 1997. So, it remains to be seen if he can repeat the feat once again.
