IFBB Pro bodybuilder Hadi Choopan has cleared up confusion about his career after placing third at the 2026 Arnold Classic in Columbus, Ohio. Earlier reports suggested he might retire, but Choopan’s camp told RxMuscle that he is not retiring. He has also stated that he will decide soon whether to compete at the Arnold Classic UK later this year.
Choopan, nicknamed “The Persian Wolf”, has long been celebrated for his sharp conditioning, dense muscles, and strong work ethic. Over his career, he became known as a formidable competitor in the Men’s Open division, capable of challenging any athlete in the sport.
Arnold Classic 2026: A Strong Showing
The Arnold Classic 2026 brought together the world’s best bodybuilding talent. Choopan arrived in Columbus in excellent condition, demonstrating the same work ethic and presentation style that earned him Mr. Olympia 2022 and multiple Arnold Classic titles in previous years. His third-place finish reflects a highly competitive field, but it also shows he continues to be a top contender in international bodybuilding.
Born in 1987 in Iran, Choopan grew up in a family with little money and worked various jobs to help his family. He discovered bodybuilding early and quickly fell in love with the sport. His early career included winning several medals at WBPF and IFBB World Championships, and in 2017, he won the Mr. Olympia Amateur title, which helped him join the professional circuit.
Choopan became well-known after entering the IFBB Pro League. He won the Vancouver Pro in 2019 and made his first Mr. Olympia appearance the same year, finishing third and winning the People’s Champion Award.
The highlight of his career came in 2022, when he became the first Iranian to win Mr. Olympia, one of bodybuilding’s most important titles. Choopan also won the Arnold Classic and Arnold Classic UK in 2024, earning recognition for his muscle size, shape, and balance.
Choopan earned the nickname “The Persian Wolf” because of his focus, intensity, and determination. Even when he faced challenges such as visa issues early in his career, he kept competing and rising to the top.
Choopan’s career is defined by perseverance, skill, and consistency. Even after a third-place finish at Arnold Classic 2026, he remains a top contender and one of bodybuilding’s most respected athletes.
UPDATE:
According to RxMuscle, Choopan has a visa to the United Kingdom, which would allow him to compete at the Arnold Classic UK. He has not made a final decision yet but will announce whether he will participate. This confirms that retirement is not currently his plan, and he is keeping his options open for future competitions.
