Colton Engelbrecht has achieved historic feats of strength on a number of occasions already, but he is still managing to make significant improvements with each new training block. Well, Colton recently shared a post on Instagram, displaying two videos of his deadlift session. One showed him deadlifting 500 kilograms (1,102.3 pounds) with lifting straps for two reps, while the second video showcased a single-rep 500-kilogram (1,102.3-pound) Raw Deadlift.

Colton Engelbrecht first put on a lifting belt and lifting straps to take on the 500-kilogram (1,102.3-pound) deadlift. Lifting straps are prohibited in sanctioned powerlifting competitions, meaning that this was only a variation of the deadlift used for training. However, the fact that Colton Engelbrecht has locked out two repetitions with 500 kilograms (1,102.3 pounds) shows just how powerful he actually is. Colton used a sumo stance to complete the set.

Seeing that the lifting straps are banned, Colton Engelbrecht took them off for his second take at 500 kilograms (1,102.3 pounds). So, he did everything by the rules of powerlifting and managed to reach full lockout for one repetition with 500 kilograms (1,102.3 pounds). For this lift, Colton used a sumo stance and a hook grip. As a result, many commend his grip strength and his ability to even hold 500 kilograms (1,102.3 pounds) in his hands.

Colton Engelbrecht is currently preparing for the 2026 Siberian Power Show, which is scheduled to take place on March 28th in Krasnoyarsk, Russia. His preparation is clearly going extremely well, as he could potentially become the first man in the history of powerlifting to pull half a ton in a competition. Moreover, Colton has shared some impressive squat and bench presses, meaning that he could set the heaviest Total ever seen in powerlifting once again.

While no one in powerlifting has ever deadlifted half a ton in competition, Hafthor Bjornsson and Eddie Hall achieved legendary status in Strongman with their pulls of 500 kilograms (1,102.3 pounds) and more. The regulations in powerlifting and Strongman are different. It is easy to point out that Colton is using a sumo stance while Bjornsson and Hall used a conventional stance. However, it is also important to point out that the two Strongmen also used a deadlift suit and lifting straps, while Colton is only equipped with a lifting belt.

Colton Engelbrecht is in his mid-twenties, but he has already built his case for being arguably the greatest powerlifter in history. He has taken part in a total of 18 sanctioned powerlifting competitions so far and has won 17 of them. Most notably, Colton achieved the heaviest Raw W/Wraps Total ever seen in powerlifting across all weight classes while competing as a U125KG athlete.

He still has two more weeks to prepare and fine-tune everything, making it likely that we will see one of the most impressive lifts take place.
