Dan Mahoney is a 17-year-old from Australia who can deadlift 3.9 times his own bodyweight. He weighs in at 67.5kg and recently pulled 260kg/573.2lbs at the Global Powerlifting Committee (GPC) Australia Nationals in Adelaide, South Australia. But that’s a lot of weight for anyone let alone someone who weighs as much as he does.

And he also performed well on his other two lifts with a squat of 529.1lbs/240kg and a bench press of 292.1lbs/132.1kg to finish with a 1394.4/632.5kg total.

Here’s the video of his three performances…

Mahony wrote the following caption on his Instagram…

The 3 successful lifts that got me my 632.5kg total at 67.06kg BW.
240 Squat – 10kg comp pb.
132.5 Bench – 10kg comp pb.
260 Deadlift – 12.5kg comp pb.
Overall, got mixed feelings about how things went. Missed a few attempts due to basic shit that was my own fault. But was still able to hit the minimum numbers I wanted and was able to match my training total from a few weeks prior within 2.5kg. Bigger things are coming and all I want now is to be back on the platform. Shout out to all the great people I had behind me (they know who they are), couldn’t do it without you guys.”

There’s nothing wrong with being a little hard on yourself, and at age 17 it’s understandable. But, Dan Mahoney still has so much more growing and progressing to do and at least he’s optimistic in that he’ll be back and do better next time.

However, it’s safe to say that’d we all agree he did a darn good job and it’ll be exciting to see what the future has in store for this youngster!
