When reports came out that Hadi Choopan would, in fact, be competing at the 2019 Mr. Olympia, the only question that remained was which division he would compete in. Hany Rambod says they are actually still deciding.
Choopan was dealing with issues getting his U.S. Visa, which left his fate uncertain for the upcoming Olympia. However, he was able to get those issues resolved before competition time, and is able to compete. However, what he has yet to announce, is what division he will be competing in. Choopan is a bit of an interesting case, as he is small enough for 212, but has also been able to compete in the Open. He has experience with both, so there is no way to know where he will go.
Subsequently, when facing uncertainty like this, one also has to face a ton of rumors. As soon as Hadi Choopan touched down in the United States, reports starting circulating that he had already decided what division he wanted to compete in. The word on the street, was that Choopanwill be competing as an open bodybuilder. However, according to his trainer, Hany Rambod, this may not be the case.
In a video, posted to Instagram, Rambod shoots down these rumors. Additionally, he explains that they are not sure quite yet, which division Choopan will compete in. He explains that they want to see where Hadi’s weight is, closer to competition time. Then they will choose which division makes the most sense for him to participate in.
