Strongman events are getting more and more exposure and guys are pulling off feats that are increasingly astounding. Being a Strongman fan in 2019 means you are witnessing history.
Lifts and records that are being set these days will be talked about for many many more years to come. So, to celebrate strong dudes doing strong dude stuff I created a top 5 list of the most impressive lift performed by today’s top Strongmen.
Iron Biby Log Press 220kg
Iron Biby is Burkina Faso’s strongest man and should everything go his way, log press feats of strength will be measured in terms of before and after Iron Biby. He’s been gunning for Big Z’s 225kg record log press for some time now and each year he’s come this close to breaking the record.
At this year’s Log lifting championship, he set his own personal record at 220kg, 8 kg short of equalling Zydrunas Savickas‘ record of 228kg. Next Log lifting championship is scheduled for April, and there is no doubt Biby will be looking to break the world record.

Mateusz is the future of Strongman competition, he will be a name you will learn to spell and pronounce because you will be hearing it a lot in the future. He has one of the best upper body strength in modern-day Strongman and unbelievable stamina.
When he does timed events, it’s almost not fair how good he does them compared to the competition. However, his best 2019 feat of strength comes from a gym training session he did in preparation for Arnold Strongman Classic.
He was getting ready to break his own record in the 410lbs natural stone to shoulder category. In training guys usually train with weights a bit bigger than the ones in their competition so when it’s go time, they are ready and the weights are light. Mateusz, does his training with an unheard 478lbs stone!
Hafhor Bjornsson 478kg Deadlift
Ah yes, Lord Clegane has to be mentioned on this list too. He’s been demolishing competition the past few years and basically won every competition he entered. The only competition he entered in the past 2 years he didn’t win was this year WSM and even that he placed on a podium.
In this year’s Arnold Strongman Classic, he competed in the Elephant bar deadlift. Even though Eddie Hall still holds the record for the biggest weight deadlifted by a human being ever at 500kg, Eddie did it on a standard deadlift bar.
The elephant bar at the Arnold Classic tends to fight back when you lift it because it’s kinda bendy and long. It requires a lot more energy, which makes Thor’s 478kg deadlift that much more impressive.
Martin Licis 257kg Steinborn Squat
MARTINS! The current World’s Strongest Man winner is a complete athlete and is great at everything. He is always either right on the verge of winning a competition or wins it.
This year, he broke his own record in the Steinborn squat aka rockover squat. The squat was popularized by old-time Strongman, Milo Steinborn, many many years ago. In modern times the lift is mostly forgotten due to modernization of barbell squatting via squat racks.
What makes this lift impressive is how hard it actually is. It requires top-notch mobility, flexibility, stability, and strength. If all that wasn’t enough, Martins did the Steinborn squat with 257 kg loaded on the barbell!
Markus Felix 83.62s Hercules Hold Record
Markus Felix is one of the oldest guys currently competing in Strongman and probably has the strongest grip among his fellow colleagues.
Some guys just have a knack for a certain thing and Markus has a knack for Hercules Holds. Felix destroyed everyone in this event and held the pillars for nearly a minute and a half seemingly only letting go because of sheer boredom.
