Gyms

Things have been tough for many fitness advocates, with gyms being shut down. However some local residents in Florida decided to take matters into their own hands by protesting and demanding for things be reopened.

With the current global health crisis putting many people’s daily lives to a halt, things have been tough for everyone. Not only are practically all major sporting events canceled, but gyms have also been shut down. This makes things incredibly challenging for those who love athletics in any way.

That is why the people of Clearwater, Florida decided to take things into their own hands. Currently Florida, one of the hardest-hit states in the country, is working to slowly reopen businesses. However, currently, gyms are not on the list of things that are being opened back up.

So these Floridians decide to do something about this frustration. News reports have come in, showing several people gathered outside of the courthouse in Clearwater, protesting for their lawmakers to open fitness centers. Moreover, in a sign of protest, many of them started doing push-ups and squats together on the streets.

Now it is certainly reasonable for these people to exercise their freedom of speech to try to get their gyms reopened. Although it is concerning that they are showing no desire to follow the guidelines that have been proven to reduce the risk of transmitting this illness, as the news reporter notes. Then again, if they are wanting to go to a gym in public, they are obviously not too concerned about passing germs.

It is clearly difficult for people who like to go to the gym, not being able to do so. However, if maintaining fitness is your biggest concern, there are plenty of ways to get a good workout in at home. Otherwise, it may be best to just be a little more patient until things are back to some level of normalcy.
