An Afghan NPC bodybuilder drove his vehicle into a crowd in Munich, Germany, injuring 36 people. On February 14, 2025, multiple reports indicated that Farhad Noori has confessed to the violent crime with German law enforcement labeling him an Islamic extremist.
Farhad Noori is a 24-year-old bodybuilder who quickly found success in the NPC. He competed in two contests in 2024. First, he earned first place at the NPC Worldwide Deutsche Meisterchaft, then took home fifth place at the Worldwide Dennis James Classic Germany last October.
Noori was reportedly arrested after he plowed his Mini Cooper into a packed crowd of 1,500 people. Following his arrest, he started praying and told the police ‘Allahu Akbar,’ a common expression used in Islamic prayers, meaning ‘God is the greatest.’
He took part in a more-than-two-hour interrogation, confessing to the violent crime. Prosecutor Gabriele Tilmann emphasized that his acts were fueled by religious motivations. Many considered him a celebrity and star in the local fitness industry with over 100,000 followers across social media. He often posted pictures of him flexing and working out, inspiring others to pursue their fitness.

As of this writing, it’s believed that Farhad Noori was acting alone and not a part of a terrorist organization. Noori arrived in Germany back in 2016 after spending time in his birth country of Afghanistan. Although he applied for asylum when he traveled to Germany at 16, the country denied his request. He is a bodybuilder and security guard.
German chancellor Olaf Scholz was vocal about wanting Farhad Noori deported immediately. During the incident, which saw a two-year-old and a mother injured, esteemed public figures were nearby, including US Vice President JD Vance and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

“This perpetrator cannot hope for any leniency. He must be punished and he must leave the country,” Mr Scholz said. “If it was an attack, we must take consistent action against possible perpetrators with all means of justice,” he added.
Farhad Noori was legally allowed to be in Germany and hadn’t committed any prior crimes before his arrest. As a prolific fitness personality, the news came as a shock to many. It appears he was motivated purely by religious beliefs, though the story is still developing. Should any significant updates come about, Fitness Volt will keep you informed.
