Amélie Mierger has been consistently improving for the past few years, which culminated with a Bench Press World Record at the recent 2024 EPF European Open Classic Powerlifting Championships. The competition took place on March 12-17, in Velika Gorica, Croatia. Amelie’s +84-kilogram weight class competed on the final day. Luckily, the best was saved for last, as Amelie locked out a 165-kilogram (363.8-pound) Raw Bench Press IPF World Record.
Amelie Mierger has been chasing this World Record for some time now, often unofficially breaking it in competitions not regulated by the IPF or its regional sub-federations. However, after crushing her bench press opener of 155 kilograms (341.7 pounds) and second attempt of 163.5 kilograms (360.5 pounds), it was clear that Amelie was brewing something mind-blowing at the 2024 EPF European Championships.
So, for her final attempt, Amelie Mierger decided to try to lift 165 kilograms (363.8 pounds). Since she competed in the raw division, she was not allowed to use anything but a lifting belt and wrist wraps for her attempt. However, that was all Amelie needed to successfully lock out the lift and set a new IPF World Record.

Amelie Mierger’s Full Performance at 2024 EPF European Championships
Amelie Mierger successfully completed all nine of her attempts, managing to push herself to the limit in all events. In turn, Amelie managed to set a new Competition PR, but fell just short of first place in her weight class. Unfortunately for her, Sonita Muluh put up a slightly heavier total, so Amelie had to settle for second place. However, a silver medal along with a World Record still makes for an incredible achievement.

She managed to get 16 gold medals in the process, along with a few other notable podium finishes.
