Last week we saw two-time Women’s CrossFit champion (2011 and 2012) Annie Thorisdottir and top athlete Sara Sigmundsdottir battle through the Open 20.1 workout which was shared on Thorisdottir’s YouTube channel. And the former champ said she’d be doing an Open workout every Friday over the 5 week period.
The first workout involved 8 ground To overheads – 95lb (men) / 65lb (women), and 10 bar-facing burpees with a time cap of 15 minutes.
Thorisdottir finished 20.1 with a time of 8:25 minutes (5th place) and she had some valuable tips afterward, while Sigmundsdottir finished at 8:11 (3rd place).
But after the announcement of the 20.2 Workout, they wasted no time taking on the challenge of which both made it through 28 brutal rounds.
Here are the 20.2 Workout details…
20 Minutes – As Many Reps As Possible
- 4 Dumbell Thrusters
- 6 Toes-To-Bars
- 24 Double Unders
Male – 50lb/25.2kg Dumbells
Female – 35lb/15kg Dumbells
Annie Thorisdottir also offered some tips following the workout… check it out!

Annie Thorisdottir’s 20.2 workout tips…
Following the workout, Thorisdottir explained that she was trying to keep pace with Sigmundsdottir. But after failing her first set of double unders a few times, she tried to make it up in the next few rounds by pushing too hard which wasn’t a good strategy.
Thorisdottir also said that being more relaxed throughout the workout would have been a better approach and she knows she could have done better.
But here are her main tips for anyone attempting the 20.2 Workout…
“Quick transitions but steady, don’t rush it. Move with determination but not rushed, and on the movements themselves, just nice and easy, stay calm. If you fail on the jump rope… make sure that if you’re tring to hit this workout real hard, practice doing the double under on your first jump. No competitor should start the double unders with a single under and then into a double under, and then failing on the jump rope is not going to cost you that much time just a little more effort.”
“Stay calm, don’t think too much about the timer, just move and then the workout is going to be over.”
We look forward to seeing Annie Thorisdottir and Sara Sigmundsdottir take on the next Open workout and hopefully, Thorisdottir will continue to give more great tips for everyone attempting the workout/s.
For the men, Matt Mcleod came out on top in the 20.2 Workout against Khan Porter and here was the final score.
- Mcleod: 896 reps
- Porter: 803 reps
Athletes will have until 5 P.M. PT on Monday, October 21 to submit their 20.2 videos.
