The second week of the 2020 CrossFit Open has officially begun! We have all the details about the workout, as well as what transpired during the live announcement.

The 20.2 began with a live announcement on Thursday evening. In addition to the workout, you also got to witness CrossFit stars Khan Porter and Matt Mcleod going head to head, completing the workout. Following the hint dropped by Dave Castro, fans were waiting anxiously for the announcement of the 20.2 workout.

Well, the wait is over!

The 20.2 workout breaks down as follows:

20 Minutes – As Many Reps As Possible

  • 4 Dumbell Thrusters
  • 6 Toes-To-Bars
  • 24 Double Unders

Male – 50lb/25.2kg Dumbells
Female – 35lb/15kg Dumbells

CrossFit Open 20.2 is as many rounds as possible in 20 minutes of:

Additionally, Matt Mcleod Managed To Beat Khan Porter In The Workout

After a brief delay in the workout start, both men began going to work on the 20.2. With this workout being so lengthy, it is important to pace yourself, so as to not gas out. Additionally, the live stream took place in Australia, where it was a bit warm and humid, adding to the difficulty.

Early on, Matt Mcleod gained a solid lead. This gap began to increase, as Porter stumbled a bit on the toes-to-bar, getting a no-rep. By the time the halfway point of the 20.2 came along, Mcleod was essentially an entire round ahead of Porter, with no sign of slowing down.

Miraculously, Mcleod’s pace hardly slowed as the workout drew to a close. He even felt so confident to take a quick breather around the 17 minute mark. On the other hand, Porter did noticeably begin to slow. As a result, in the end, Mcleod would walk away with the win.

Final Score:

  • Mcleod: 896 reps
  • Porter:  803 reps

The 2020 CrossFit Open rolls on with this second week of exercises. Athletes will have until 5pm PT on Monday, October 21st to submit their videos. It is important to have proper form for the workout, otherwise they can suffer penalties, under the updated rules. Following the submission deadline, scores will be complied and leaderboards updated.

Good luck submitting your videos!
