Ashley Kaltwasser was recently in the hospital for some eye surgery. Now she has provided an update on how her recovery is going after the procedure.
Kaltwasser is one of the most iconic Bikini competitors in bodybuilding history. Three-time winner of the Bikini Olympia, she has long been considered one of the best in the world. Moreover, this has led to a successful career as a model as well.
Despite these amazing achievements, Kaltwasser has been dealing with some medical issues. She has had some serious concerns with her vision, in particular getting bad double vision. As a result, she was forced to the hospital to get strabismus surgery, which is a procedure to correct her eyesight.
Following successful surgery, Ashley Kaltwasser was in good spirits. She took to Instagram to share some progress pictures. Not only that, but she shared a brutal picture of her eyes. Furthermore, she does an excellent job explaining the procedure, as well as answering some questions you may have.
Here was her message:
“Strabismus surgery complete ✅” Kaltwasser said.
“*FYI- strabismus surgery is to align the eyes to see straight (it’s not LASIK surgery). They perform this surgery by by cutting and tightening the small muscles of the eye using dissolvable threads*
This is a procedure done under general anesthesia. Thankfully, it has a high success rate which is promising. Although it currently feels like glass shards are in my eyes, I can already see more singular🙏🏻Since May 2019, I’ve had 24/7 double vision that continued to get worse. It was quite a miserable experience as my overall vision, depth perception and physical visual awareness continued to decline. Although this surgery fell right in the middle on contest prep, IT HAD TO BE DONE! .
So now it’s time to rest, relax…. sleep as much as possible 😆 If you know me, I HATE sitting still. So this will be a challenge for sure!”
Kaltwasser went on to explain a few possible causes of her vision deteriorating in the way it did. Then she concluded, thanking her fans for their support.
“But yeah, I just wanted to give you all an update,” Kaltwasser explained. “I am just blown away from all the support and well wishes. It actually makes me so happy that my little red eyes tear up (which I shouldn’t do right now because my tears actually burn lol). Again guys, thanks for the continued support and care 💚 I am so appreciative😭🙏🏻”
