Brian Shaw has retired from Strongman in 2023, but his passion for strength training has not dialed down at all. Instead, he has turned to collecting historic pieces of equipment and upgrading his home gym in order to be able to train for multiple sports. Well, Brian’s home gym is now nothing short of spectacular.
Brian Shaw has already revealed the home gym he had built back in 2022, but it has changed a lot since then. Brian’s needs changed after he retired from the sport, especially since he had goals of transitioning to MMA and now arm wrestling. So, it is safe to say that his gym is extremely versatile.
Brian Shaw’s Insane Home Gym
Brian Shaw has been adding and replacing his equipment over the past few years, meaning that his home gym has gotten an impressive makeover. Moreover, he has made sure to obtain some pieces for arm wrestling training, which is his biggest focus at the moment.

Starting off, Brian Shaw decided to showcase the Back Attack machine, which he has had for a while and still loves it. Next up, he went over to the Cybex SPARC, which is a relatively new addition to his gym. He used it while training for an MMA match, and its purpose was primarily to increase his conditioning.
Another new piece of equipment that Brian Shaw recently acquired is a Rogue Rhino Belt Squat. Apart from the squat, Brian also found a way to perform some rowing and pulling movements on the machine. Next to it is another Rogue piece, and it is a Standing Hamstring Curl.
Brian Shaw’s cardio section features the Power Plate, Rower, Echo Bike, Swisswing, and a Stair Master. However, there is also one new addition in the form of a Woodway Treadmill, which helped Brian prepare for the MMA match as it was suitable for a man of his size. Moreover, in the corner of the cardio section, Brian has placed some strength memorabilia, including vintage York collars and an actual brick from the original York factory.
Moving over to the next section, Brian Shaw has placed a familiar piece of equipment. Specifically, it is the Leg Press Machine that was used for the Car Leg Press event in the previous Shaw Classic / Strongest Man On Earth competitions.
The Seal Row machine still remains one of the staples in Brian Shaw’s home gym, and it is placed near the dumbbells. Talking about which, in the video it seems that Brian has hundreds of dumbbells, all varying in shape and weight. His collection contains the Standard dumbbells, York Roundhead dumbbells, Fatbells, Custom Watson dumbbells, and the York Globes and Buns. Along with the dumbbells, Brian also holds the iconic York Deep Dish Plates, which are his favorite.
“These dumbbells (York Roundhead) mean a lot to me. These are the dumbbells that I trained with in college… All of my York stuff and my collectible older weight equipment I do train with… Based on what movement I am doing or the day I will grab a different type of dumbbell. Sometimes I will use multiple types of dumbbells because it is fun… This is arguably my favorite section of the gym” said Shaw in his YouTube video.

Brian Shaw also still keeps the Free Motion Cable Cross, which offers him a lot of versatility. Next to that, Brian has placed a Standing Chest Press, Pendulum Shoulder Incline, and an old-school Flex Fitness Convergent Chest Press.
Interestingly, Brian also has his old Lat Pulldown Machine that he used in his parents’ garage back in the day. The padding on the machine is ripped, but Brian does not want to fix it since it brings back the memories.
One piece of equipment that takes up a lot of space is the Monster Rack. However, it also allows Shaw to perform a plethora of movements based on his desires. He also attached a Beyond Power Voltra to the rack, allowing him to set a desired resistance level on the cable, which is particularly useful for his arm wrestling training.
Speaking of which, Brian Shaw also has two arm wrestling tables in his gym. He also has custom handles built for arm wrestling that can be attached to a cable machine and are shaped in the shape of a hand.

Moving over to the next corner of the home gym, Brian Shaw has added a brand-new Cable Machine. The reason he acquired it was because it has the ability to go up to 300 pounds. Right next to it is “the G.O.A.T. of Seated Row Machines”.
Some of Brian Shaw’s new additions are simple but effective. Those include a Forearm Trainer, which allows Brian to work on his wrist pronation and supination, but also a Grip Trainer. He has also imported an unnamed arm wrestling machine from Kazakhstan.
Apart from that, Brian Shaw also has some standard machines, such as the Smith Machine, Glute-Ham Raise, and many other accessories.

Brian Shaw has also shown videos of him going around the country and collecting historic artifacts related to strength sports. However, he still has time to train for arm wrestling. It is not clear if or when he would like to make his debut in the sport, but he has already made tremendous progress training with multiple elite athletes, including Devon Larratt.
