Actor Charlie Sheen is opening up about his use of steroids while filming Major League back in 1989. During a podcast appearance on Nov. 5, 2025, he recounted his experience and revealed that after just six weeks of use, he was able to add ten miles an hour to his fastball.

Love him or hate him, Charlie Sheen is one of the most successful and influential celebrities of our generation. In addition to starring in countless movies from the 1990s to 2000s, he was best known for his controversial role in the CBS television series hit Two and a Half Men

When Major League made its way into theatres across America, it became an instant classic. He played Rick “Wild Thing” Vaughn, a struggling Major League Baseball pitcher known for his scorching fastballs. Though we often think of bodybuilding when steroids come to mind, Sheen admits performance-enhancing drugs helped him accurately portray the character.

Charlie Sheen Added ’10 Miles an Hour’ to His Fastball Using Steroids for Baseball Movie

In the video, Sheen reflected on a meeting with Major League executives, touching on the challenges of playing a realistic baseball player:

“The script was amazing,” he shared. “I had one meeting with them, and he’s like, ‘Well, you pitched in high school.’ I’m like yeah, and that was only four years ago, right, five years? But I can’t throw 98 or 100 [MPH] or I’d be doing it for a living, but I can probably get you somewhere in the mid 80s,” he shared

After six weeks of using ‘a bunch of steroids,’ the famous actor said he added an impressive 10 miles an hour to his fastball.

“Not bad, so I did a bunch of steroids, right? I was only throwing like 76 at the time. I had this trainer, guy was a running back at NYU, and he knew a guy that could get the steroids. So, we’re at Gold’s Gym, yeah man, it literally put ten miles an hour on my freakin fastball in six weeks.”

Sheen isn’t the only acting juggernaut to come clean about steroid use. Shia LaBeouf recently looked back on his use of steroids. He revealed that they helped him gain 55 pounds for a movie role, but said, ‘I almost died,’ heeding warnings from his cardiologist.

Sheen is one of the most transparent actors to shake up Hollywood. He hasn’t forgotten how just a six-week cycle of steroids helped his athleticism explode for Major League
