The 2023 Giants Live World Tour Finals took place on October 21st in Glasgow, Scotland, and gathered 12 of the best Strongman athletes in the world. However, the first event of the competition was a Max Log Lift, so one additional athlete joined the lineup for a World Record attempt. It was none other than Cheick “Iron Biby” Sanou, who has built a name for himself based on his prowess in the Log Lift. With years of training behind him, Iron Biby walked out on the stage and locked out the long-awaited 230-kilogram (507.1-pound) Log Lift World Record.

Cheick Sanou has been chasing the 230-kilogram (507.1-pound) Log Lift for multiple years now, but he always fell short. However, October 21st, 2023, turned out to be one of the most memorable days for him and the Strongman community. Iron Biby walked out with a lifting belt, wrist wraps, and elbow sleeves, ready to finally conquer the 230-kilogram (507.1-pound) Log that has put him through so much struggle in the past.

Iron Biby first had to pick up the Log from the floor up to his shoulders, which proved to be the easiest part of his lift. Once the Log was sitting comfortably on his hands, approximately neck-high, Iron Biby decided to initiate the overhead press. However, despite lifting it up a few inches, he felt that something was not right, so he lowered it back down to his shoulders.

Iron Biby then made some adjustments and got ready to attempt the overhead press once again. With the crowd cheering him on, Iron Biby pressed with all of his power and locked out the 230-kilogram (507.1-pound) Log Lift World Record.

Cheick “Iron Biby” Sanou also held the previous Log Lift World Record, which was 1-kilogram (2.2 pounds) lighter than the new mark he set. So, his previous record stood at 229 kilograms (504.9 pounds) and was set at the 2021 Giants Live World Tour Finals. A lot of controversy surrounded his previous record, as many believed that he didn’t fully lock out the weight. Nonetheless, Iron Biby made sure to silence his haters with excellent lockout and control during his new 230-kilogram (507.1-pound) Log Lift.

Iron Biby is known as a static monster in the Strongman community due to his mind-blowing abilities in many of the pure strength-based events. Apart from having the strongest shoulders in the world, Biby is also exceptionally great in the deadlift event. He has pulled some incredible weight in training, with the 400-kilogram (881.8-pound) stiff bar deadlift standing out.

On the other hand, he has not found much success in regular Strongman competitions, although it was very clear that he had the potential to do so as well. So far, in the seven years that he has been competing, Iron Biby has taken part in 10 international contests but has not won any of them.

Iron Biby has now fulfilled his longtime goal and left no doubts about who the greatest Log Presser of all time is. However, it is not clear if he wants to pursue a heavier weight in the future or if he plans on doing something else. Many fans would love to see him properly prepare for a regular competition and show what he is capable of. On the other hand, it would also be interesting to watch him chase another World Record. Regardless, Biby has already cemented his spot in the history books.
