The bodybuilding world is excited to welcome the world’s best Classic physique talents to the 2024 Mr. Olympia stage this October. In a recent YouTube video, Shahriar Kamali and coach Chris Aceto discussed whether Wesley Vissers or Urs Kalecinski could prevent Chris Bumstead from winning a sixth Olympia title in five months.
The Classic Physique category has been dominated for five straight years by none other than Chris Bumstead. However, as the division has developed, other major players are starting to prove themselves as threats to Bumstead’s reign. This includes Urs Kalecinski, who earned a respectable third-place finish at the last two Mr. Olympia competitions.
However, it seems Wesley Vissers is another one to watch after not only earning the victory at the Arnold Classic Ohio, where he dethroned Ramon Queiroz, but also winning the Arnold Classic UK. While Chris Bumstead has previously revealed that he believes he can beat “these guys” at 120%, not everyone thinks it will be as clear-cut as that.
Chris Aceto, King Kamali Break Down if Wesley Vissers/Urs Kalecinksi Can Defeat Chris Bumstead at 2024 Olympia
In a recent YouTube video, King Kamali and bodybuilding coach Chris Aceto took a closer look at Urs Kalecinski’s physique and discussed whether or not he is capable of beating not only Chris Bumstead but also Wesley Vissers.
King Kamali believes that the quad sweep of Vissers will dictate if he is in the running for gold.
“You know what, it’s a structural thing with him [his waist]. How much wider can he get? How much more caps can he put on his shoulders? I think what’s going to make the difference will be some quad sweeps. Can he do it? I don’t know,” said Kamali.
Meanwhile, Chris Aceto made it clear that Kalecinski wouldn’t be able to defeat Bumstead at the 2024 Olympia.
“I think people talk too much. It’s the problem with social media. We’ll see, that’s my answer. Is he[Urs Kalecinski] going to beat Chris Bumstead? Is that the question? Absolutely not,” said Aceto.
“That doesn’t mean that Urs is not a good bodybuilder. He’s a good bodybuilder. Is he going to beat Chris Bumstead? No,” said Aceto.
Aceto and Kamali are unsure if Kalecinski will be able to get passed Vissers let alone Chris Bumstead.
“Will he beat Wesley Vissers? That’s the question,” says Dave Palumbo.
“He’ll have a lot of trouble,” replies Aceto. “Ruff Diesel is a great bodybuilder. He’s as good in his own way as if not better than Urs.”
“He needs oil. How many times have I seen Ruff Diesel and it looks like he’s got no oil,” explains King Kamali. “Put some oil on man. It will make you look 1,000 times better on stage.”
Regardless of what anyone has to say, Urs Kalecinski has made it clear that he feels confident he will be the one to beat at this year’s Mr. Olympia. Previously, Kalecinski was adamant about his ‘super aesthetics‘ and claimed they gave him a solid shot at gold.
There are still five months before the 2024 Mr. Olympia takes place and a lot can happen in that amount of time. One thing is for sure: Chris Bumstead has a target on his back and many bodybuilders in the Classic Physique division are ready to take their shot at the king.
