Pa O’Dwyer’s untimely death shocked the community, as the 5x Ireland’s Strongest Man passed away at the age of 40 years of age. The reactions on social media proved how many people were devastated by the tragic event, with prominent figures from all aspects of life posting their final farewells and sharing interesting stories of Pa. Well, another sign of how liked O’Dwyer was is the fundraiser that was organized to support those he loved most — his family. In turn, nearly 9,000 donations were made, which came out to over $250,000 (£186,500).
Eddie Hall was the one who took the first step and started the GoFundMe, aiming to help Pa O’Dwyer’s family, as he always looked to be a provider for those closest to him. Many were delighted to contribute, as Pa always brought joy and was there for everyone in their most difficult times.
A lot of people attached a message to their donation, many of which show how much impact Pa O’Dwyer had on their lives, whether that be through positive interactions at competitions or through his content on social media. So, O’Dwyer’s passing did not only affect those closest to him but also people that he probably never got to meet.
“Thank you to everyone that has donated and helped make Pa & his whole family know just how loved he was. The whole strongman community shined through and delivered a monumental service to Pa in so many ways today… more ways than just his funeral 🙏
Providing for family is something we pray for in life but even more so in death… Pa will rest easy knowing the strongman brotherhood & sisterhood has his back and his family will be looked after 🙏” wrote Eddie Hall on Instagram.

During his early life, Pa O’Dwyer spent a lot of time consuming alcohol but decided to turn his life around when he became a father. He quickly found success and decided to start his Strongman journey. He became quite successful in the sport, winning five Ireland’s Strongest Man competitions and the 2018 UK’s Strongest Man. Pa also took part in three World’s Strongest Man competitions. One of his biggest achievements was placing second at the 2022 Britain’s Strongest Man, only behind Tom Stoltman.
In recent times, Pa O’Dwyer dedicated himself to a body transformation. He managed to lose 39.9 kilograms (88 pounds), which got him an insanely shredded physique. O’Dwyer also shared content on Instagram, reacting to videos, promoting mental health awareness, and more, which was met with positive reactions from thousands of people.
Pa O’Dwyer’s funeral was held on January 7th, 2026. The funeral ceremony gathered those closest to Pa, while the friends he made in Strongman helped carry the casket to his final resting place. Among those present were Eddie Hall, Tom Stoltman, Luke Stoltman, Luke Richardson, Terry Hollands, and others.
