It’s barely been 72 hours since the 2020 Reebok CrossFit Games finished with Mat Fraser becoming a five-time Fittest Man on Earth®, and Tia-Clair Toomey becoming the four-time Fittest Woman on Earth®, and CrossFit is already announcing their Open dates.

📷 @kierankesner • @stacietovar @bstoneberg @thurihelgadottir @crossfitbrazil • @babeazevedo #crossfitbrasil #crossfitbrazil #brazil #fitness #CrossFit #Sports #fitttestonearth #sportsphotography

Athletes do not have much time to begin the groundwork of preparation, with registration starting in January 2021 which is just a few months away.

Mark These Dates – 2021 CrossFit Games

The 2021 CrossFit Games Open itself will be held between February and March 2021, beginning February 18 and running for five weeks. Hundreds of thousands of athletes in the CrossFit Games community are expected to participate.

The time to start preparing for Games like we saw this past weekend is now. The 2021 CrossFit Games Season is launching in less than four months.

The pandemic protocol for logistics of the events next year remains to be seen and may mirror what we saw this year. This season we saw a number of delays and cancellations, and some changes to the format due to the coronavirus protocols.

btw, the 2021 Open starts Feb. 18.

Qualifying for the 2021 CrossFit Games

The best way to qualify for next year’s events is to be the best in the world. That’s all. Start working out.

Achieved two lifetime fitness goals today! Front squatted over 400# and rowed a 1k under 3 minutes! AND the best part of all is that I got to share the floor with @thetravismayer and @blacksmifff while we were being cheered on by an awesome group of some our best friends. A very unique @crossfitgames experience for sure, but one of my favorites in some ways. Excited to give it everything we’ve got to go top 5 tomorrow!

In other words, from a logistics standpoint, the way to qualify for the 2021 Reebok CrossFit Games is through a number of wins.

Last year we saw invitations after the following qualifiers:

  • Winning a Sanctionals Competition
  • Being a CrossFit Open National Champion
  • Finishing in the top 20 for CrossFit Open
  • Earning a Wild Card Invitation

What are the Workouts?

We just don’t know, but there are ways to connect the dots here as all of the best athletes in the world are doing right now.

Practice and work out to prepare until the workouts are announced. New workouts will be announced every Thursday.

But, if you look at the events in the 2021 CrossFit Games from just this past weekend, you’ll see some themes.

  • Gymnastics movements — Toes-to-bar, pull-ups, handstands, handstand walks, handstand push-ups
  • Cardio – Burpees, double unders rowing, biking
  • Strength – Thrusters, snatches, wall balls, deadlifts, cleans
muscular cardio events, handstand events, and runs, as key themes that prevailed in the toughest events of the 2021 CrossFit Games.

Push yourself to your limits when you want to become the Fittest on Earth®.

CrossFit Games owner CEO Eric Roza has hinted that his goal is to have over 500,000 registrations for 2021.
