Dexter Jackson, to the surprise of many, scored an impressive fourth place at the 2019 Mr. Olympia. Following the event, he has opened up about his performance, and what this means for him.
Heading into Mr. Olympia, Dexter Jackson was one of the big topics of discussion. At 49 years old, he was looking to win the competition for a second time. However, there developed some doubt on this prediction when Jackson first walked on the stage. After getting one final workout in before the big show, he hit the stage for the prejudging. Yet, when this was over, Jackson’s appearance was a little underwhelming. While he ended in the final six, his physique appeared a bit soft, compared to some of the others.

Nevertheless, Jackson persevered and came back stronger for the finals. He had managed to improve, to earn a score of 4th place. Despite not getting the win, which would have been groundbreaking, this is still unbelievable. Following this win, he put out a video issuing a statement on this showing.
Watch the video:
In the video, Jackson is at a cookout, post-Olympia, which he says is a tradition. He takes the opportunity to thank his fans and supporters. Furthermore, he explains the struggles he went through, to earn that fourth place. Subsequently, he explains that things could have been a lot different, if he was able to perform the same way at the beginning of the show, as he did at the end.
No matter what, Dexter Jackson should be proud of himself. He displayed an ability to defy age in ways few people can.
