Ethan Suplee is one of those “that guy” actors you immediately recognize in a movie. However, if you are having trouble recognizing him by his recent pictures don’t beat yourself up. He was morbidly obese for the better part of his acting career and just recently went from “blob to buff” losing a huge amount of weight and getting jacked.
Recently he did a video for Men’s health showing off a part of his chest/push day workout. Because, of course, he is. No one really cares about how much can he leg press. In this video, Suplee said he has lost lots of weight and now he’s focusing on retaining as much muscle as possible while continue to lose weight.
Ethan previously was 530 lbs plus and now he’s 260.
First off, his trainer starts him with doing a power plate push upholds to “engorge the muscles with oxygenated blood”. After he’s activated his muscles with the power plate his workout routine looks like this;
1. DB Incline fly (50lbs), 3 sets with 10 reps superset with DB incline press
2. Sitting Chest press with an underhand grip, 3 sets with 10 reps

3. Cable scoops, 3 sets with 10 reps
4. DB Pullover, 3 sets with 10 reps superset with DB French 3 sets with 8 reps
5. DB Skullcrushers withhold, 8 reps+5 reps+ 3 reps+ 1 rep
In between weight loss and weight gain journey he met a girl and felt for her. He also said losing weight and getting on a healthy side is the only way that he can see the longest time with her.
As you can see, there’s nothing fancy going on in his workout, it’s a simple hypertrophy routine. I am a bit curious about the lack of barbell exercises. Perhaps they shuffle workouts and this just a version he showed for Men’s Fitness.
He changed his perspective on food while losing weight. All his foods are strickly planned out, including macros and calories. He works out six days a week with 2 hours a day. He made his own foods including rice, chicken, sweet potatoes, vegetables, etc.
