Graham Hicks has built a reputation for being one of the greatest Strongmen when it comes to static strength. So, when he was mentioned as a part of the lineup for the 2025 Britain’s Strongest Man, many fans of the sport got very excited. However, Graham will unfortunately not be making an appearance in the mentioned competition, having suffered a bicep injury which forced him to withdraw.

Graham Hicks got injured during one of his recent training sessions. He was performing a deadlift of undeclared weight when one of his lifting straps snapped. The result of the unfortunate event was a bicep injury. Hicks hoped that the injury would heal quickly. In that case, he wouldn’t have to withdraw from the 2025 Britain’s Strongest Man, which is set to take place on February 1st. However, that has not been the case, which is why Graham decided to prioritize his physical wellbeing.

“I have had to make the difficult decision to withdraw from Britain’s Strongest Man. I sustained a bicep tear when my deadlift strap snapped and unfortunately it’s just not healing quickly enough,” wrote Graham Hicks

Judging from Graham Hicks’ statement, it seems that his bicep tear should heal on its own with time. So, Graham wants to avoid competing since any more strain on the muscle could make it more severe. On the other hand, he hopes to get a chance to compete in some other competition once he is fully healed.

Graham Hicks primary goal in 2024 was the deadlift. He was hoping to go for an extremely difficult weight, perhaps even the world record. For that reason, Hicks did not appear in any other competition apart from the 2024 World Deadlift Championships. Unfortunately, when the day came to compete, Graham’s deadlift suit was not cooperating with him. In turn, he ended up with a 425-kilogram (xx-pound) pull, with a near miss at 470 kilograms (xx pounds) as well.

With the deadlift goal out of his mind for now, Graham Hicks has decided to come back to full competitions in 2025. For reference, the last full show that he did was the 2023 World’s Strongest Man. He does, however, have a plethora of experience behind him, having competed since 2012. In that period, Graham has taken part in 29 international and national competitions, with his win at the 2019 Britain’s Strongest Man being the standout result.
