Men’s Physique standout Jeremy Potvin is coming to grips with news no one wants to hear. On March 26, 2025, Potvin reveals on Instagram that he’s been diagnosed with stage 1 kidney cancer.

Potvin has made significant leaps in the Men’s Physique category over the years. Turning Pro in 2014, he’s steadily made gains in front of fans around the world. His dedication to bodybuilding has been tested a handful of times, including his recent bicep tear that forced him off the stage for the entire 2024 season.

Potvin last competed in a pair of contests in 2023; he took a close runner-up behind Jason Huynh at the Republic of Texas Pro before nailing down 10th place at the Mr. Olympia, which was held in Orlando, Florida. Training comfortably once again, the bodybuilding community expected him to make his mark in the division, but it appears he’ll need some time to reassess his health moving forward.

Jeremy Potvin Reacts After Being Diagnosed With Stage 1 Kidney Cancer: “Life Happens and There Will Be Setbacks”

In a recently uploaded Instagram post, Potvin revealed that he’s been diagnosed with stage 1 kidney cancer. While it’s been a challenging ordeal to accept his new reality, Potvin is confident he can rise above the adversity and conquer this setback. Fortunately, medical professionals caught his cancer early, and at stage 1, it’s highly treatable.

“Officially diagnosed with Stage 1 kidney cancer. Life happens and there will be setbacks. What matters the most is how you navigate those said setbacks. You can choose to feel defeated, or you can choose to conquer. I’ve always chosen to rise above and that ain’t changing now. I’ll speak more on this another time.”

He admits that after hearing the news, he went on with his day as if it were any other.

“Went on about my day no differently than any other. Got my workout in and posed, and spent time with family” Jeremy Potvin shared

In the past year, we’ve seen multiple bodybuilders share their heroic battles with cancer. Classic Physique’s Fabiony Sylvain publicly documented his fight with colon cancer. Despite health issues, including the loss of blood, Sylvain persevered and competed at the 2024 Mr. Olympia

Meanwhile, beloved Spanish bodybuilding Star Xisco Serra sadly died following years of battling skin cancer. Ultimately, stomach problems led to his passing at 50 years old, leaving the community in shock over the ordeal.

Jeremy Potvin says he’ll discuss his diagnosis in more detail soon. For now, our staff at Fitness Volt wish him well in his fight against kidney cancer and offer his friends and loved ones peace and tranquility during this time.
