Many great powerlifters have competed on the platform over the past decades, but no one has officially scored a heavier raw Total than Jesus Olivares. So, not only is he the best in the World currently, but also one of the greatest to ever do it. However, the scary thing is that Jesus is improving even more with each day, and thus lifting weights that are mind-blowing. Similarly, Jesus recently shared a video on Instagram displaying an incredible 420-kilogram (925.9-pound) deadlift, which was an Unofficial IPF World Record.

Jesus Olivares was always capable of moving tremendous amounts of weight, but it seemed that his grip strength was the limiting factor on the deadlifts. However, Jesus seems to have solved that problem, as his 420-kilogram (925.9-pound) deadlift looked immaculate. He did not use any equipment except for the lifting belt, and performed the pull in a conventional fashion. Jesus crushed the lift, performing it with ease, and redirecting his stare into the camera, knowing that everyone who watches is impressed.

The current IPF World Record in the raw deadlift event stands at 410 kilograms (903.9 pounds). Unsurprisingly, Jesus Olivares is the man who holds it, having set the record at the 2023 IPF Sheffield Powerlifting Championships. It looks to remain in his possession for the foreseeable future as well, since Jesus is on course to further improve it the next time he competes.

Jesus Olivares is expected to take part in the 2024 IPF Sheffield Powerlifting Championships, which are set to be held on February 10th, at the Sheffield City Hall, UK. The competition was one of the greatest in 2023, so excitement is already building for next year. It will gather the world’s greatest powerlifters once again, but Jesus is definitely the one that will bring the most excitement.

Jesus Olivares has been quite consistent throughout the past three years, making two official appearances in each of them. However, since he is not competing too often, Jesus has a lot of time to train and improve. In turn, every time he does decide to step out on the platform, Jesus breaks some World Records or PRs

Jesus Olivares has been doing powerlifting since 2013, but has paused his journey between 2015 and 2019. He has taken part in a total of 21 sanctioned powerlifting competitions and won 12 of them. Most notably, Jesus won the IPF World Championships three times in a row, and will look to extend his streak next year as well.

Jesus Olivares also shared a humongous 280-kilogram (617.3-pound) raw bench press PR two months ago. So, it is evident that he is improving in all aspects of powerlifting, which brings up the question if Jesus can become the first powerlifter to Total 1,200 kilograms (2,645.5 pounds) raw.
