Julius Maddox is easily the most dominant bench presser in history, but he never stopped setting new goals and attempting to better himself in any way possible. That paid off greatly during his recent training session, as Maddox attempted a 229-kilogram (505-pound) raw bench press AMRAP (As Many Reps As Possible). His final number of reps came out to 15, which marked an all-time personal record.

Julius Maddox performed his incredible bench press shirtless, only wearing a pair of wrist wraps. After positioning himself on the bench, Julius started repping out 229 kilograms (505 pounds), making sure to maintain perfect technique and full lockout with each rep. Up until the 13th rep, it seemed like he felt no fatigue, but it suddenly caught up with him on the last two reps.

Julius Maddox did not even count his reps during the set, but described it as a “huge lifetime PR” once he rewatched the video. Moreover, the caption of his Instagram post contained some promising words for the future, as he wrote “800 in the bag!”, referring to an 800-pound (362.9-kilogram) raw bench press that he is striving to achieve. So, it is clear that his 229-kilogram (505-pound) 15-rep PR has massively boosted his confidence.

It is not clear when Julius Maddox plans to compete, but he is already bench pressing well over 700 pounds (317.5 kilograms) in training. So, with 800 pounds (362.9 kilograms) in his sights, we could see Julius step out on the platform very soon.

Julius Maddox has already attempted to bench press 800 pounds (362.9 kilograms) on multiple occasions, but he has never been able to lock it out. However, all of those are behind him now and serve as valuable experience for his upcoming attempt. He has already felt how heavy 800 pounds (362.9 kilograms) feels. So, it should not surprise him when he tries to lift it again.

Julius Maddox’s current pressing power also gives hope that he can achieve his long-term goal, as he shares some humongous lifts each week. In fact, he recently locked out a 260-kilogram (573.2-pound) seated press in front of Ronnie Coleman, which left even the G.O.A.T. of bodybuilding speechless.

It has been some time since Julius Maddox took part in a sanctioned powerlifting competition, as his last outing took place in June of 2022. However, Maddox was extremely active prior to that, and has accumulated a total of 18 appearances since 2015. Moreover, Julius took part in the bench-only division in all of the competitions, unsurprisingly managing to win every single one of them.

Julius Maddox’s 229-kilogram (505-pound) 15-rep bench press PR proves that his endurance is currently better than ever. In addition to that, his recent seated press is also a statement that his strength and power are also at a high level. So, it seems that Julius is complete in all aspects of his pressing, which builds optimism that the 800-pound (362.9-kilogram) bench is within his grasp.
