Lucas Hatton has had an incredible start to the season, quickly emerging as one of the favorites for the 2025 World’s Strongest Man. With the competition taking place on May 15-18 in Sacramento, California, Lucas has entered the final few days of his preparation. So, he decided to show off his incredible shape coming into the competition, sharing an incredible 600-pound (272.2-kilogram) Overhead Press from his recent training session.
The behind-the-neck press proved to be perhaps the most entertaining event at the recent 2025 Arnold Strongman Classic. Hatton was the winner of the event but decided to continue improving since he is set to take on a similar task at the 2025 World’s Strongest Man competition. So, Lucas is clearly looking to claim maximum points in the ‘Flintstone Press Max’ event.
Lucas Hatton picked up the 600-pound (272.2-kilogram) barbell, resting it behind his head. He then took a few steps forward before stopping and taking a few deep breaths. He then pressed the bar above his head while simultaneously performing the split-jerk stance. The bar was locked out above his head, but Lucas still needed to stabilize himself and get back to an upright position. This was clearly another demanding portion of the lift, but Lucas managed to get it done.
“As far as I could find, less than 10 men have ever put 270 kg or more overhead and only 2 have done more than this. I know I won’t need to do anything close to this to win this event at the 2025 World’s Strongest Man but getting 600 overhead was a personal goal of mine. I needed to know what it felt like in the hands,” wrote Lucas Hatton on Instagram.

Lucas Hatton finished in second place at the 2025 Arnold Strongman Classic but proved that he is one of just a couple of men who can push Mitchell Hooper to his limits. Hatton’s greatest asset is his consistency, which is why he is expected to perform well in a longer-style format, like the 2025 World’s Strongest Man.
Lucas Hatton is in a very stacked qualifying group at the 2025 World’s Strongest Man, meaning that he will have to fight hard to secure a top two finish to move through to the finals. Lucas will battle the likes of Mateusz Kieliszkowski and Rayno Nel, both of whom are capable of achieving miraculous lifts of their own. Moreover, Shane Flowers and Evans Nana will also hope to break through to the top of the leaderboards.
Lucas Hatton has never taken part in the World’s Strongest Man competition, making him a debutant at the upcoming edition. He has, however, secured podium finishes at the 2024 Strongest Man on Earth, 2024 North America’s Strongest Man, and the 2025 Arnold Strongman Classic. In doing so, Lucas managed to beat a plethora of incredible athletes, including Hafthor Bjornsson, Tom Stoltman, and others.
Lucas Hatton is still waiting for his first international victories, as he has not stood on top of the podium in the seven appearances that he has made so far. On the other hand, he took the win in both national-level appearances that he made — the 2023 & 2024 America’s Strongest Man.
The Flintstone Press Max event is going to be a highlight at the 2025 World’s Strongest Man. With Lucas Hatton showing off his incredible strength, it’s expected to be a thrilling competition.
