Lucas Hatton has been climbing up the ranks over the years and is now definitely one of the most notable athletes in the Strongman community. In turn, he is now set to make his debut at the 2025 Arnold Strongman Classic, which is set to take place on February 28 – March 1 in Columbus, Ohio. So, while preparing for the competition in his gym, Lucas managed to overhead press a massive 251 kilograms (553.4 pounds).

Lucas Hatton’s most impressive feature is his static strength, especially when it comes to the upper body. So, he is now the biggest favorite to win the ‘Big Jerk’ event, which will task athletes to perform a max overhead press from the blocks. As per Hatton, he is ready to load as much weight as needed to take the win in this event.

Apart from his tremendous strength, Lucas Hatton’s technique also increases his ability to lift massive amounts of weight over his head. He first positions the bar behind his neck and follows it up with an explosive split jerk press. Mitchell Hooper uses the same technique, but not as efficiently as Lucas Hatton.

Prior to Lucas Hatton’s Instagram post, the biggest overhead press shared by athletes who are competing at the 2025 Arnold Strongman Classic came from Mitchell Hooper. The reigning two-time champion managed to lift 240 kilograms (529.1 pounds) over his head, establishing himself as one of the favorites.

Hafthor Bjornsson has also been open about his preparation for the ‘Big Jerk’ event. It is important to note that it was predicted to be perhaps his worst event at the competition, mainly due to the limitations that he has encountered last year when it came to overhead pressing due to his infamous pec tear. Still, Bjornsson has locked out a massive 210-kilogram (463-pound) lift. However, just weeks later, Hafthor tried another huge lift and nearly injured himself after dropping the bar on his back.

Despite being relatively new to the elite Strongman scene, Lucas Hatton has already accumulated some success. He has won America’s Strongest Man for the past two years and secured some impressive podiums. Most notably, he finished third out of sixteen at the 2024 Strongest Man on Earth competition, only behind Mitchell Hooper and Hafthor Bjornsson. So there is no doubt that he will look to put in a good performance at the 2025 Arnold Strongman Classic as well.

The set of events that will be featured at the 2025 Arnold Strongman Classic seems to fit well for Lucas Hatton. Depending on how his deadlift abilities have progressed, Lucas could be a threat for the title, as there are definitely certain events where he should take the win or at least place very high. However, he will still need to beat the greatest athletes in the world, including Mitchell Hooper, Hafthor Bjornsson, and Tom Stoltman.
