Nick Walker is amid preparations for the 2024 New York Pro on May 18 as he aims to qualify for this year’s Mr. Olympia contest. Taking to YouTube, Walker discussed suffering for the pump and cardio training. In addition, he opened up on the incident at the 2024 2 Bros Pro show that saw Michael Daboul assaulted by security.
Thus far, Nick Walker’s bodybuilding career has been a roller coaster of emotions. In 2023, Walker attempted to win a second Arnold Classic title but was unable to out-point Samson Dauda on the judges’ scorecards. Fans expected him to avenge the defeat on the 2023 Olympia stage only to discover that ‘The Mutant’ suffered injuries to his hamstring and calf, which prevented him from participating in the marquee show.
Having set his sights on the 2024 New York Pro title, Walker plans to get back into the winner’s circle. Should he qualify in the months to come, the bodybuilding community agrees he will be a significant factor on the Mr. Olympia stage, including former four-time champion Jay Cutler.

Unsure of what happened at the 2 Bros Pro event, Walker was hesitant to defend anyone but pointed out that what the security did was wrong.

“He wasn’t like, he was just speaking his feelings about how he felt disrespected about the show, which is okay, fine whatever, but the only thing we don’t know is is which I’m not defending anyone here, but we don’t know if he went a lil ape shit and then got beat the fuck up.
We don’t know if he’s talking his mouth and the bouncers then fucked him up. You don’t know. None of us are there. Supposedly they have footage but we will probably never see it. But if I had to guess from my own opinion, I think what the security did is wrong.”
Shifting gears, Walker discussed his conditioning levels and coming to terms with consistently suffering through preps.
“I’m always going to come in peeled no matter what I don’t care,” said Walker. “I think conditioning is I revert conditioning to suffering and I love to suffer. You know, if Matt was like, ‘You know what bro, I think we need to go no carbs for like a week and let’s see what happens.’
I’d be like lets do it bro I don’t give a fuck. Let’s get down to business because I know. I know I’m big enough. I can probably afford to do something like that and it wouldn’t be detrimental to the look as long as we play, okay, time to eat, play that game back and forth. I like to suffer. I have no problem with suffering, zero, none.”
Although onlookers have questioned the intensity of his stair stepper routine, Walker stands by his slow and controlled pace.
“People don’t understand that, that’s why when I do stairs and I do a level two or three, people laugh. I’m like, but I’m squeezing everything every step. To me, that’s harder than someone who is on like a level eight, nine, trying to fucking climb Mt. Everest.”
He believes the pump is one of the best markers of a successful workout.
“I’m just a big advocate of a pump rules the workout for me. If you got a good big ass pump, you had a good workout.”
According to Walker, if the workout resulted in gains and you recovered from it, then it’s not wrong.
“The thing is, people would say that’s wrong right but if it works for you, you recovered from it, you felt good, then it’s not wrong,” said Walker. “We all used to do that when we were younger. I remember being 18, 19, doing like 40 sets to failure and I was like I’m good. Now, if I tried to do that, oh my God, I’m taking the rest of the week off. I’m done.”
As a result of the assault by security in England, Classic Physique standout Michael Daboul plans to press charges. He believes the violence was unjustly warranted whereas the 2 Bros Pro organization mentioned that Daboul was attempting to access a restricted area where women were undressing and tanning. In time, fans hope to see the dilemma resolved amicably.
For Walker, all eyes are on the approaching 2024 New York Pro. Should he pull off the big win, he will be qualified for this year’s Olympia, where he will have the chance to test himself against favorites Derek Lunsford and Hadi Choopan.
